Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

"So, alone again," Gavrila laughed as Adiwyn left, putting her hands on her hips and looking over at Ned, "Well, not really. But at least we do not have a chaperone anymore."

But at her words, Aurel purposely cleared his throat and gave a small smile. Gavrila simply laughed once more, "Okay, we still have one chaperone. But he has to listen to me."

Ned laughed. "See, you should join in more, Aurel! How about you? Is there anything you'd like to see?"

"No, nozing in particular," Aurel replied simply.

"Anyway, is zere anyzing else you want to see around here while we wait?" Gavrila said, "Because I have no goddamn idea of what zere is here."

Ned just shook his head and laughed lightly at Aurel's response. "Uhm... Most of the stuff around here is the deep sea and nocturnal sea-life. I think there are a few displays and videos from deep sea dives over this way."

Gavrila shrugged at Ned's words. "Eh, how about we look around at ze fish some more? I would razer see ze actual fish zen just watch some videos," she said, then grinned, "After all, zere is no way in hell we have seen zem all yet."

"That is definitely true, I think that there is still another tank over on the other side of that display there," he said while pointing. The edges of a small crowd could be seen from where they were. "Maybe they're doing a interactive session over there? Either that or there's just some very interesting things happening in the large tank."

Gavrila only thought about it for a short moment, before turning to Ned and grinning. "All right, let us go see what all ze fuss is about," she said, and started walking in the direction of the crowd. She was enjoying herself; the country was amazing, aquariums were always fun, and Ned seemed like a nice guy. Then she turned her head to make sure that Ned was actually following her. After all, they were visiting the aquarium together; it wouldn't do to leave him behind.

The small crowd had gathered around an aquarium in which there was a diver interacting with the fish. There was also a speaker with a microphone lecturing in English about what kinds of fish the diver was feeding, where they were from, and what made them special. There were several tropical fish, but they were all relatively surface fish from the coral reefs.

Ned followed Gavrila over toward the tank, listening to the lecture as they got closer. "Kind of makes you want to go SCUBA diving, doesn't it?"

"SCUBA diving? No, not really," Gavrila said, then laughed, "Not zat I would say to an offer to go do it of course."

She paid attention to the display for a little longer before turning back to Ned, "You know, ze fish here are damn cool. Zere are not any coral reefs or anyzing back home."
