Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet. Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar. Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?" |

"Actually, I cam because ze Empress invited me to come," she said, "And it would have been rude to refuse." Gavrila had been planning on openly admitting that Jia Li had invited her over to try and set her up with him, however she was having second thoughts. If she really didn't want him to know then Gavrila wouldn't say anything, but she stared at Jia Li and hoped she'd change her mind. Technically she wasn't lying to Ned, but she'd much rather just tell the truth. And if Ned decided to press the issue Gavrila would probably just tell him anyway. |

"It's not a 'social call' when you practically live here," Jia Li teased. "But yes, it is a bit of a social call. We hit it off fairly well back in Albraustana-zid and I thought she'd like to visit here as well." She smiled. "It'll make things go easier if I have all the royal family on my side for the trade agreements my ministers are putting together." |

Ned shrugged. "So more along the lines of business intertwined with fun. I can always get on board with that." He took another bite of something then continued. "And who says I live here?" |

"The fact that you have keys and an apartment upstairs," Jia Li retorted. "Erryn didn't keep his keys. He just stays in your room or a guest room when he comes to visit." |

"I would say zat qualifies for living here, at least part time," Gavrila piped in, grinning, "I do not even have keys or a specific room in ze Palatul Regal, and I visit my cousin whenever I have ze time. Oh, and I am technically not part of ze royal family Jia Li, since I am not part of House Suveraneshti." |

Jia Li shrugged. "It's just a technicality. None of my cousins are technically part of the royal family either, but from what I understand people try to use their 'influence' on me." |

"Well zat sounds like it sucks. For boz you and your cousins," Gavrila said, then laughed, "As you can imagine, nobody tries to use my influence on my cousin since zey know it would not work." |

Ned chuckled. "The only influence I've tried to get your cousin to use on you was a bad one. Remember the time we nicked the cake from the kitchen? Could've asked for it, but where was the fun in that." |

Jia Li shook her head. "I think that was bullying rather than 'influence'. You made my sister cry." |

"Aw, well zat does not sound very nice," Gavrila said, chuckling, "Zough I cannot talk, I did stuff like zat when I was younger too." |
