Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship. The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched. With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters. Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure. |

Kakia smiled. "Good. Because I will not help carry you back down," she replied with a wink. |

"Oh, I do not zink Andrei would need help carrying me down," Vlad laughed, "He has probably carried zings heavier zan me farzer distances in training. And if I need to carry him down, zen he is out of luck." "I should probably hope I do not end up needing zat zen," Andrei replied, though there was a small small on his lips, "But make sure you at least call for help first." "I can always try," Vlad joked. |

Kakia pushed her plate away. "So I understand there is a tradition of eating dessert after a meal. Are you are interested? I know the chef has a few delightful dishes for tourists." |

Vlad was just finishing up his meal, while Andrei was already done with his noodles; both of them nodded their heads. "Zat sounds great," Vlad said with a smile, "After all, who does not like dessert?" "What do you eat for dessert here?" Andrei asked. "Yeah, what do you have here?" Vlad said, "Because I have absolutely no idea." |

Kakia shook her head. "That is a foreign tradition, but we have created some desserts. Most if it is cold items, like ice. I've usually had coconut shaved ice. Most of the time it is frozen fruit, like mangoes, but I believe the menu here offers chocolate and cake." |

"Oh, well zat is great. As much as I like your food, I still prefer using a fork," Vlad said, smiling, "I do get one right? After all, I can hardly eat cake wiz chopsticks." Meanwhile Andrei made a cursory glance around the table, "Are ze menus already here?" |

One menu was tucked in the condiment tray. It listed about five desserts. It is said that serving fewer dishes was better because it is easier to perfect the dishes served and it appeared to be the case with these, at least according to the accompanying pictures. As she said, there was coconut shaved ice, frozen fruit, a rather indulgent combination of chocolate syrup and rich cake served in a chocolate bowel, a more traditional cheesecake, and a plate that combined fruit, nuts, and honeycomb. Kakia smiled. "I think you could manage it, though you could always use your fingers," she teased. "You will learn quickly or starve." |

Vlad simply smiled and shrugged in response, "Well between using my fingers and starving, it is no contest." Andrei only had to glance over the menu to decide what he wanted before passing it to his brother, who took more time deciding what it was he would eat. "So, we have told you quite a bit about us, but I do not zink you have mentioned much about yourself," Andrei said, looking at Kakia, "Aside from your name." |

Kakia smiled. "Well, then, what would you like to know? I am a photography student and I will graduate next year, but I'm not sure yet what I will do with the degree. It is more likely that I will take over my family's business and I didn't really think I should go to school to learn that. I have known it for most of my life. I just thought that photography was interesting." |

"Zat is fine. Just having a degree and going to college is good," Vlad said, still looking over the menu and not bothering to look up at Kakia, "After all, most people do not get a job zat has to do wiz zeir degree." Then he looked up at his brother. "He and Andrei here are an exception," he said, playfully elbowing his twin, "Right?" Andrei shrugged, "If zat is true, zen I suppose so. But what kind of business does your family run?" |
