Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship.

The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched.

With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters.

Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure.

Hana Suzuki lay on her stomach with her eye on the sights and her arms loosely wrapped around the rifle. She was on a rooftop across the street from the docks and was in just the perfect position that she could cover her sister with a shot through the window should it become necessary. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, controlling her breath and attempting to read tiny lips through the scope. Normally it would be Arashi in this position, but they'd anticipated a fight and she was much better versed in hand to hand combat.

The two of them worked in tandem when on an assignment. She handled infiltration and anything that required quick thinking while her sister handled skulking around and physical fights because despite their similar size and musculature, Arashi was stronger and faster than she.

She watched the drama unfold beneath her. The two of them had infiltrated - or rather created - a local gang and had convinced them to start running errands for the Apostates. It would only be a matter of months before they collected enough data to ascertain which group had started to trade biological weapons and why. Demoness itself was none too concerned about the spread of the weapons as it also had the cure, but this meant there was a security leak in one of the secure facilities and it could not be traced back there. In fact, they needed to find out who the source was. The group argued with Arashi's adopted tough persona and they got into a shoving match. It was ultimately interrupted by the loud braying of antiquated sirens, drawing Hana's annoyance. Why had they come? Who had called them?

That moment of distraction nearly cost her. She saw the Apostates scatter and Arashi dive into the water. Great. It was too dark to see her sister and lay down any necessary cover fire. Instead, she shot at the spotlight on the lead boat, shattering it, and fired a few more shots to give Arashi a head start. The next patrol boat ineptly searched the skyline, but by then she had already packed her bags and disappeared from the rooftop, exiting into the building.

"Ebony?" she murmured into her wire, calling her sister's code name, and heard nothing in reply. She adjusted the bag over her shoulder and walked casually in the opposite direction of the scene. No contact. That meant she should get to the safe house and regroup.

---

Arashi smiled. "Would you?" she asked.

"Sure, no problem," Vlad said, happy that he could help while Andrei just watched. He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and offered it to the woman. Andrei himself took a step towards her, but only in case she tried to run off with her brother's phone.

Arashi accepted the phone and fumbled with it for a while. She knew the Feorasans didn't have any modern mobile phones at all and she was also using it as a stalling technique. She couldn't call her sister since neither of them had their real phones and the wire only worked as a radio. Regardless, Vlad had made her an offer and it would have been suspicious to refuse.

"My friendsh aren't here!" she exclaimed, handing the phone back to Vlad and scowling.

Vlad took the phone, fumbling it a little as he looked at the woman. It was obvious from the looks on both of the Cetatsens' faces that they were confused as to what exactly she meant. After all, how could her friends not be here?

"Um, excuse me," Vlad said, "But what exactly do you mean zey are not here?"

"Where exactly would zey go?" Andrei asked, both confused and a little suspicious.

Arashi pointed at the phone. "They're not there!" She clamped her eyes shut tightly as if she were trying to think, and then shook her head. "It'sh not my phone. I don't know their numbers."

"Ohh," the brothers said in unison as an expression of understanding came over their faces. But despite that, the situation now proved to be even more of a problem. Vlad had been hoping that she could call her friends, and that they would pick her up. But now that wasn't possible.

"Well, do you live around here?" he asked, "Or staying somewhere around here, at least?"

Andrei looked at his brother, "Ce bine va face asta? Nici unul dintre noi stiu unde nimic în jurul ei este."

"Am putea numi mereu doar Kakia. Sau am putea obține o hartă sau ceva."

Andrei sighed, responding with "Bine, bine."

OOC: I tried translating this. It made "Kakia" into khaki...

IC:
Arashi listened to their speech, trying to figure out their country of origin. She'd pegged them as tourists from the beginning and from the North due to their complexions, but the best she could do was guess that they were South Vesturian. While she spoke several languages, she was not the best; that was in her sister's realm of expertise.

The question became how she should answer the Cetatsens. Should they ever split up, she was supposed to head to the safe house and wait there. However, she couldn't necessarily take these men with her there and there was no way to readily extricate herself from the situation. She glanced at the docks again, noting that their control on the area was solid, and she wondered if her sister might be caught in that net.

She shook her head. "We wash on vacation from up north," she said. "We're in a hotel on Fifth Shtreet I think."

Vlad thought for a moment before shrugging, "I have no idea where zat is."

"Neizer do I," Andrei added, then sighed as he took out his own phone, "Wait little bit, I can probably find a map online."

As Andrei focused on his phone, Vlad gestured to a nearby bench. "Come on, have a seat," he said, "Zere is no reason to keep standing."

Fifth Street ran from one end of the city to the other, though it dog-legged in several areas to prevent a clear route, and unfortunately had several hotels on the strip. Most of them were middle-ranged and they became more expensive as they neared the center of the city, but none of the descriptions readily jumped out as the one where Arashi might have registered.

"Thanksh," Arashi said and plopped herself down on the bench. She was careful to keep her firearm faced away from the siblings and for her shirt to cover the blocky shape. A puddle soon formed around her and she casually wrung her hair out on the street to deter any closer inspection. She yawned and then asked, "Are you guys on vacation?"

Andrei was busy looking up the map on his phone, so it was Vlad who actually spoke up and answered Arashi's question. "Do we look like we are from ze island?" Vlad jokingly asked, "No, we are on vacation from Cetatsenia. And I have to admit, zis is a lovely island."
