Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship.

The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched.

With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters.

Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure.

Liko shrugged. "Said to find Polunu," he replied, leaving out the part where he was supposed to kill him. Liko had come to the independent decision that he wanted to talk to Polunu before he did anything because he didn't trust what he'd been told. He couldn't touch Polunu since he was in the medical house and Amu wouldn't release him until she'd gotten paid. That would be good enough for Luana.

"So you have no idea when zey will be here," Andrei said, not even bothering to hide his irritation, "Perhaps you could call zem zen. Zis is razer important for boz of us."

Liko turned and shouted Luana's name before turning around and sarcastically adding, "No phone." He'd had enough of this stranger who offered no reward and clearly too affluent to be in the neighborhood. He couldn't be a drug dealer or another such criminal because even the foreign ones understood only important Feorasans had phones at all, let alone cell phones like the one Andrei was implying. Even Amu had one, paid for by the Coalition, as part of retainer for her services. He'd seen Luana with a cell phone, which she'd picked up sometime after they became their own gang with their own territory and started dealing with the other gangs, but he wasn't going to give it to this man. Liko decided he'd had enough and walked off.

Andrei narrowed his eyes at Liko, obviously displeased by the course of action. And he wasn't going to just sit here and wait for this Luana to show up; what if they never did? Then he'd just be standing around here like an idiot. So before Liko had the chance to get away, Andrei quickly moved forward and grabbed Liko by the wrist. He held it firmly enough that Liko would have to pry his hand off, but not so hard that it was painful. After all, he didn't want to hurt the man. Not yet at least.

"You are not going anywhere until zis Luana arrives," he said, and it was clear from the tone that it was a command, not a request.

"I will," Liko replied angrily. He pulled a rather large knife from where it had been concealed beneath his shirt and attempted to stab Andrei. The police would investigate the murder of a foreigner, but no one would talk in this neighborhood.

Andrei easily moved out of the way of the man's knife, before grasping his other wrist. However, this time when he got his grip he squeezed hard and twisted the man's wrist as far as he could. Andrei hadn't planned on harming him, but when Liko pulled the knife out he had forced Andrei's hand. He just hoped Luana wouldn't mind too much.

Andrei's twist managed to make Liko drop the knife, but Liko wasn't going to let him get the better of him and he punched Andrei as hard as he could with his free hand. He'd been in enough fights over his life and another one didn't bother him.

Andrei quickly realized that he couldn't keep a hold on Liko and avoid the punch at the same time, so he instead took the blow. Liko's fist connected with Andrei's face and the man hit hard, but it wasn't anything Andrei couldn't take though it might leave a bruise. And, more importantly, Andrei still had a hold of Liko's wrist. So he twisted Liko's arm around as hard as he could. "If you do not stop, zis will end far worse zan you know," he warned the man.

Despite Liko's hand being forcibly behind his hand and the pain he was suffering, he did not submit and he continued to lash out. He'd taken several beatings over his life and though he'd never worked as an enforcer, he'd taken part in beatings. He tried to punch or kick Andrei to try to loosen his grip.

Andrei had to admit that he was surprised by the man's tolerance for pain. If he was often in fights it did make sense for him to be used to pain, and since he was a thug Andrei would be surprised if he wasn't in a lot of fights. But this was starting to irritate him, and that was only exacerbated when a lucky kick connected with his shin. With an angry growl he moved one of his hands from Liko's wrist to his shoulder, before slamming him down onto the pavement.
