Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship.

The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched.

With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters.

Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure.

"I wasn't certain you were awake and I didn't want you to panic," Hana replied. And I don't really want my sister tripping over you, she thought.

---

"I have to," Liko replied, which after a fashion was true, but Andrei didn't need to know the rest of his plan. The others continued shouting and would be within striking distance in seconds.

"I see," Vlad replied, then looked behind Hana at the house that was currently burning behind her and gave a nervous chuckle, "So, was zat your handiwork?"

------

"Fine," Andrei said, glaring at Liko suspiciously, "But once zey get over here, speak English." He didn't want them having a conversation without him knowing what they were saying; that was just asking for trouble.

"No," Hana replied simply. "Did you find my note?"

---

Liko didn't even bother to give Andrei a questioning look; he would figure out on his own that not everyone spoke English or didn't like it. He disobeyed Andrei when the lead man shouted into Liko's face and insulted him back. Additionally, he threw in that Andrei had said something about the man's mother's sexual history. The lead man pushed Liko aside and continued onto Andrei, while one of the other started to trash talk Liko. The lead man had his knife out and spoke to Andrei in Poi.

Vlad held up the note. "Yeah, I was going to leave but I was not sure who you were. I did not want it to be one of zose people," feeling much calmer as he gestured to the burning house, "Or your charming sister. Um, was she ze one who set ze house on fire?" He figured it rather strange that he was so calm, considering the fact that he was right next to a burning house with a woman who had, technically, kidnapped him. But he had come to trust Hana to at least not kill him.

------

Andrei narrowed his eyes at the man, hands on the hilt of Liko's knife. "Pleacă din fața mea, dacă nu vrei să fie înghițire dintii," he said in Cetatsenian, before reiterating in English, "Get ze hell out of my face."

Hana instead ignored his question. "We should leave. We definitely don't want to be here when emergency services arrive and that column of smoke will definitely attract them," she said and started walking in the direction she had given on the note. She walked quickly, a little louder than before, but she was careful not to leave any tracks. "I'm not certain the forest won't catch fire either."

As she walked, a thought occurred to her: the Apostates loved fire. While it destroyed evidence, it was symbolic for them and Morante, so perhaps local law enforcement would assume that this house had been hit by a rival group. Perhaps her sister was more under control than she thought.

---

The lead man may or may not have understood Andrei, but aggression sounds the same in every language and he shoved Andrei while shouting something else at him. Meanwhile, Liko was having his own issues with his person while the third seemed to be watching on the sidelines as backup.

Vlad looked back over at the burning house, then to the forest around him, before following Hana, bag in hand. "Zat is a pity, it is such a nice forest," Vlad said as he caught up, trying not to think of the possibility that there had been people in the house, "And I hope nobody is caught up in it."

------

"Shove me again," Andrei growled angrily, staring the man directly in his eyes as he drew Liko's knife, "I dare you." He would rather not have a confrontation with these men, but at this point that didn't seem like it was going to happen. And he also didn't really think threats were going to help at all, but by this point he was beyond caring. Maybe if took this one down fast enough, it'd scare the others off.

Hana thought it was also wise not to respond to that comment either. "Once we get to the beach, you should be able to find someone who will take you to the police," she said, changing the subject.

---

The man drew his knife and spit some insult at him.

Vlad let out a laugh, though it sounded forced rather than genuine. "I should have assumed you could not take me," he said, "I wish I still had my phone zough, I could get a hold of my brozer sooner. He must be worried sick..."

------

Andrei simply continued to stare at the man; his eyes didn't even flicker to his knife, but stayed locked with the man's eyes. Then, in a single sudden movement he grabbed the hand that the thug was holding his knife in and turned it away, before aiming a punch to his face with his other hand. If Andrei wanted, he could try have stabbed the man instead of punching him. After all, he did have the knife in his hand. But he wasn't a murderer, and he figured he could beat the man down instead of killing him. He just hoped he could finish it quick enough to scare his friends off.

"If he is a good brother, he would be," Hana replied. She didn't intend to be rude, but she was not in the mood to talk and was trying to figure out what her next plan was and the necessary steps. She had decided not to kill Vlad, so she needed to take him to the beach, extricate herself from the situation quietly, and then find transportation off the island before reporting back to headquarters.

---

The man's reactions were slow as he was used to a lot of show before a fight, should any come at all. He took the punch, becoming slightly disoriented in the process, before reflexively swinging his knife. Liko took the opportunity to punch his partner while the third man seemed uncertain for the moment.

Vlad, unfortunately, didn't pick up on Hana's unwillingness to talk and so he simply continued on, "I just hope he did not do anyzing too rash."

------

Andrei managed to back away from the blade of the man's knife, though he could feel it slash near where he had just been. So he hadn't managed to knock the man unconscious, which was unfortunate. Unfortunate for the man that was; Andrei had dropped the knife when he dodged, and now his arm was stretched out from the failed swing. Quickly, Andrei grabbed him by the wrist, much as he had done to Liko in their earlier fight, but this time Andrei didn't try to immobilize the man. Instead, he brought his other arm up and then brought his elbow down hard on the middle of the man's outstretched arm, right on his elbow.
