Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship. The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched. With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters. Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure. |

Hana shrugged. "By this point if you still believed that you are more dense than I would have assumed," she replied. --- He shook his head; the truth was that he could understand simple phrases, enough to get by when necessary, but he couldn't piece together a simple sentence. He relied solely on the other languages of the island, including his own. |

Vlad nodded his head in agreement, "Zat is true enough. Okay, why did you offer to let me follow you around? I mean, I certainly was no help." ------ Andrei rolled his eyes in irritation, but he supposed he couldn't keep getting lucky and finding people here who spoke English. So he started off in the direction he'd seen Liko run; he didn't expect to catch up to Liko since he had no idea where the man had gone. But he supposed it couldn't hurt to search for a short while, and maybe come across Liko stopped after having left Andrei behind. He didn't think he would, and in all honesty had resigned himself to trying to find the way back to the more affluent part of the city on his own. |

Hana thought about it for a moment. "I'm not sure. Maybe because you chose to come with me. I met my husband that way. It would have been safer for you to leave, but you persisted and you coped very well." --- Liko had utterly disappeared, as any street thug would learn to do when running from the police. The rest of the residents were going about their business, primarily cleaning, and were no real help in locating Liko; it was best to stay neutral through gang fights. |

"To be perfectly honest, I do not zink ze full weight of what was going on really hit me until it was pretty much over," Vlad said, "And I stayed because ze ozer option was hoping I did not get lost trying to get back and up mugged or worse." ------ Andrei sighed in irritation at the loss of Liko, though he had expected as much. Now he needed to get back to the better part of the city, and then go to the police. He also needed to charge his phone; the woman could have released Vlad as soon as she'd gotten away and he'd have no idea. Most of the people around seemed to simply be going about their business and he wasn't certain if any of them would want to help him. And considering the fact that he'd just beaten up three gang members, being seen speaking to him could possibly endanger them and he certainly didn't want that. So he started wandering through the streets in the opposite direction that Liko had ran, reasoning that Liko may have tried fleeing farther into the poor part of the city. |

"That is actually the best way of coping with any life-threatening situation, especially during a kidnapping. I'm surprised your family didn't train you for such eventualities." --- The slums weren't much easier to navigate during daylight, but the boon of having the sun being up was that Andrei could orientate himself using the new skyscrapers as reference points. It took some time, and he had to scare off criminals and scavengers, but he made it back to the main part of the city. |

"Zey may have, maybe. I do not really remember to be honest," Vlad said, "Maybe I did not just pay attention, since I never really zought it would happen." ------ Andrei grinned as he noticed that the buildings around him had finally begun to turn from those you'd find in the slums to those of a city designed to cater to tourists. However, as he passed a window he grimaced. He didn't exactly look like he belonged; he was shirtless with a bruise on his face and long cut on his back. At least the gash from the thug's knife wasn't deep, it meant Andrei wouldn't have to go out of the way to find a doctor. But he wasn't sure how people would react to the way he looked, but he needed to ask someone where the closest police station was. So he looked around for someone who didn't look particularly busy, and who also looked like they lived here. |

Hana gave a small smile. "Perhaps you should have a refresher course then, given the circumstances." --- There were several tourists in the area, who also appeared unnerved with Andrei's appearance, but there were also plenty of residents who were also commuting to work. There was even a tour bus on its way toward Andrei, though "bus" was being generous. It was an open-air vehicle and appeared to be several decades old. Its noise level meant that the guide had to shout to be heard over the engine despite also holding a microphone. |

Vlad laughed at that, and it was an honest laugh. "Perhaps. But zen again, zese circumstances have nozing to do wiz my social status," he said, "Zat was just pure blind luck." ------ Andrei didn't pay any mind to the tourists, but he did notice the tour 'bus'. And that was a good thing, if there was anyone who could direct him to the nearest police station it was probably the tour guide. After all, knowing where things were was his job, even if a police station probably wasn't something most tourists would be interested in seeing. So as it approached, he waved at the driver in an attempt to get his attention. While it wouldn't be the end of the world if it just passed him by, he'd prefer it if they stopped. And who knew, maybe the 'bus' was heading in the direction he'd need to go. He certainly wouldn't care about paying the fare. |

"Yes, but your social status does endanger you more than the average citizen. And what would have happened if your brother had not been with you?" --- The driver spotted Andrei and slowed while he talked to the tour guide. They seemed to come to a consensus that it might be better to stop. Once the vehicle halted, the tour guide stuck his head out the opening that served as the "door". "Do you need help?" he asked in accented English. |

"Well I zink Fhawan only kidnapped me because my brozer was pointing a gun at her," Vlad replied, then thought for a moment, "But you are right." Then Vlad groaned, "Gavril is going to absolutely flip out when we tell him what happened." ------ "Yes, actually," Andrei said, glad that things were finally going his way, "I need directions to ze nearest police station."
