Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship. The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched. With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters. Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure. |

OOC: Fhawan was the name Arashi gave. :-p IC: Hana nodded. "I imagine so. It will be an international incident, at best." --- "It's a few blocks that way," the guide replied. "We can take you. What happened?" |

((OOC: Oh, crap. Sorry about that. I mean for him to say 'your sister', since I couldn't remember the name she gave.)) "I hope it does not screw up Demoness and Cetatsenia's relationship," Vlad said with a sigh, "Gavril is really interested in building zat up; he is quite fond of ze country." ------ "Zere was somezing of an incident, and a woman made off wiz somezing razer important," Andrei replied, getting aboard the bus, the looked at the driver, "How much for ze fare?" |

"It really depends on how much he wants to hold Demoness accountable for," Hana replied. "Feoras is a protectorate, but there is only so much Demoness can do." --- The driver shook his head and pointed toward the guide. "We're a tour, but the police station isn't too far out of the way," he explained. "Here, take my seat," he added, offering one directly behind the driver. He stood and continued narrating while the drive started the bus again, but he explained that they would be taking a slight detour while seamlessly adding another portion to his tour. Being in English, Andrei understood the lecture, which was about the local Industrial Revolution and how it built up the surrounding area. After several minutes of driving down narrow streets and barely avoiding buildings, Andrei was dropped off at the police station. It was a smaller installation sandwiched at the bottom floor of building and appeared to be intended for petty tourist complaints. There was a small waiting room, complete with a ticket distributing machine, opposite a plexiglass barrier behind which sat a single man and the rest of the office. The man called out a number and the next person went to the window. |

"Well ze opinions of ze Knezi could be issues too. Not all of zem are happy wiz Cetatsenia getting cozy wiz Demoness," Vlad said, "But I do not zink my brozer will hold Demoness too accountable. It may have been different if I was actually targeted, but zis was just a coincidence." ------ Andrei happily took the seat, though he was a surprised that he didn't have to pay anything. Not unhappy about it, but he wouldn't have minded it at all. On the short drive over there he only caught snippets of the guide's lecture, since he was more preoccupied with what he was going to tell the police. After all, Andrei had been kidnapped last night and he needed a reason why he hadn't contacted them earlier. When they arrived at the building, he quickly thanked the driver and tour guide before getting off. As he entered the station itself, he looked around the waiting room before deciding that he didn't much care for waiting any longer than he had. So he instead walked right up to the officer behind the barrier. "I need to report a kidnapping," he said simply, hoping that was enough to get the officer's attention. |

"I imagine that there will still be some people who insist that you were targeted," Hana replied. "How much longer is your vacation or do you plan on shortening it now?" --- "Just a minute," the officer said with practiced patience before the words actually processed. He immediately turned back to Andrei and blinked. "What did you say?" |

"We were planning on staying for a bit longer, but I suppose Andrei will want to cut ze trip short. And I do see why, but I zink it would be a pity to leave so soon," Vlad said, after a short moment of thought, "We only got here yesterday." ------ "I need to report a kidnapping," Andrei said, "My brozer." After he said it he thought that he should probably sound more concerned, but it was too late for that. And if the police mentioned it he could always just say that he'd had time to process it and he figuring staying cool was the proper course of action. |

"That is a shame then. There are some lovely spots on the island." --- The policeman frowned. "Just a moment," he said and excused himself to the phone on the wall. He called the main station to request a real detective, though if he recalled correctly the procedure for any kidnapping involved the Imperial Bureau of Investigation. He did not have that number, but he believed the police would handle that portion. After a few minutes, he came back to the window. "I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait," he said to the previous tourist and turned back to Andrei. "I need you to fill out this form and then we'll take your statement. I have a detective on xyr way to take your full testimony." |

"Yeah, I had hoped to see more of it before we left," Vlad said with a sigh, "Maybe I can convince my brozer to stay for a few more days." ------ Andrei waited patiently, and when the man came back with the form he breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully he hadn't thought Andrei was pulling his leg or anything that would make this take longer than necessary. Andrei took the form with a nod of thanks, looking over it quickly before turning back to the man. "Do you have a pen?" he asked. |

Hana chuckled. "I doubt it, but you are certainly resilient. Tell me more about your family," she added, trying to elicit further conversation. It would be a long walk and it seemed that they were out of danger. She couldn't even hear sirens, though the column of smoke was beginning to coalesce. --- "Ano, yeah," the officer replied and handed him one. The form was basically what one would expect: his name, age, and basic details along with his complaint, emergency contacts, and nationality. It was rather generic. |

"Well, I have 4 siblings. Andrei is ze one here wiz me; I do not know if I mentioned it earlier but we are identical twins," Vlad said, "Ozer zan zat zere is Gavril, who is Voivode, my sister Andreea, and my brozer Octavian. Zough zere is also my cousin Gavrila, who is like a sister to us. What exactly do you want to know? 'Tell me about your family' is a razer vague request." ------ Andrei thanked the officer, before finally getting to filling out the form. He filled it out as quickly as he could, checking it over once he was finished to make sure he'd completely filled it out and hadn't made any mistakes. Once he was finished, he returned to the officer and held the form out. "Now what?" he asked. |
