Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship.

The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched.

With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters.

Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure.

Hana shrugged. "Whatever you're willing to share. Do you get along with all of them?"

---

"Ano... Well, a detective is on xyr way to come speak with you personally," the officer said. "I do not normally deal with crimes this serious." He paused to think a moment. "There's an office around here where you can sit and wait." After a moment, he opened a door and led Andrei back to an office, which apparently had been vacated specifically for this purpose. There were a handful of other peace officers about, but they didn't really speak with him aside from offering him a drink or refreshments and light medical care.

After another thirty minutes, he overheard intense but unraised voices and soon saw what appeared to be a local detective and another individual in a suit. The man introduced himself as Detective Hekekia while the female stated she was Agent Yamamoto from the IBI. The detective didn't seem too pleased that his jurisdiction had been usurped, but he was cooperative and after a recording device was placed on the desk between them Andrei was asked to tell his story.

Vlad nodded his hand and smiled, "Oh, definitely. Zey are all great people and I love zem all." Then he stopped to think, then shook his head sadly, "Well, except for my Aunt and Uncle. Ze parents of my cousin I mentioned before. None of us get along wiz zem."

------

Andrei was polite and patient enough, politely refusing any offer of refreshments but more than happy to accept the slight medical care. The cut on his back may not be bad, but it was somewhat painful and he was glad to finally get some treatment for it, even if it wasn't much.

When the detectives arrived, he was polite though by that point he was starting to get rather irritated with having had to wait for so long. It was strange that he had waited so long, but when it came to waiting only a little bit longer Andrei was getting irritated. Perhaps it was because he was finally so close. He introduced himself to them, though as simply Andrei Suveraneshti, before relating his story to them.

He explained about his and his brother's first meeting with the woman, how she had pretended to be drunk and ask for help finding her hotel. And then he related how Polunu had come onto the scene, pulling a gun on the woman, and the altercation that followed. He told them how she had claimed to be an undercover cop, and how when he had picked up the gun that the pair had dropped and how she attacked him when he was skeptical of her claims. After explaining how she had managed to get the gun in the scuffle and kidnapped her brother, as a guarantee he wouldn't follow her, his story started to differ from reality. Not necessarily in the facts of what happened, but in small details. He claimed that after Polunu had been shot by the woman he wanted to take him to get medical help, since neither of them knew the phone number and he had been shot in the legs, which could have been a life-threatening injury if left untreated. He said that he had no choice but to follow Polunu's directions to get medical help, and it ended up leading him to what was obviously an unlicensed doctor in the slums. After entering the house, he wasn't able to leave and he wasn't going to attempt to force his way out since one of the people present had a gun. He explained that they didn't let him leave for the duration of the 'surgery' and when he tried to call the police on his phone, he discovered that the battery had died. If it hadn't, he would've called and reported the crime much earlier. Then he explained how he managed to slip out of the house when someone came to check up on Polunu arrived, and the guard left the door unguarded as it sounded like the meeting had turned violent. Then Andrei had no choice but to try and navigate his way back to the better part of town unaided. And attempted muggings were how he ended up with the bruise on his face and the cut on his back; but he had fortunately been able to turn all the thugs he encountered back.

"Why is that?"

---

At the point where Andrei identified Arashi as an undercover cop, Agent Yamamoto turned to Detective Hekekia and instructed him to check on that identity, though they both agreed that she wasn't likely a real cop; it was to see if she had tried this previously and they might have a lead on her. Their reaction to the unlicensed doctor differed slightly: Hekekia was unsurprised, as if it were expected, while Yamamoto expressed disgust. Detective Hekekia promised to procure descriptions of the muggers after they finished their focus on the kidnapping.

"So your brother is identical in appearance to you?" Agent Yamamoto asked. After Andrei replied, she said, "Did the kidnapper make any effort to contact you to ask for a ransom?"

Vlad thought for a long moment, trying to figure out what exactly to say. While it wasn't exactly a secret that the two sides of the family, his father's side and his Uncle's side, didn't get along he didn't really want to go into something so personal with this woman.

"Let us just say zat zey were not ze best of parents to my cousin," he responded finally, "Fortunately she turned out all right in ze end."

------

"His face is identical, but he keeps his hair longer zan I do," Andrei said to Yamamoto, then listened patiently to her next question, "I do not know, since my phone has been out of battery for most of ze night and I do not have my charger wiz me."

Hana nodded. "We can talk about something else if you want or not at all."

---

Agent Yamamoto nodded as she wrote down notes. She instructed the detective to start a bulletin for Vlad and his kidnapper before asking for Andrei's phone. "We should be able to find a charger somewhere. Is this the only way you could be contacted by your brother?"

"No, it is fine. We can still talk. Just not, well, just not about zem," Vlad said, and it was obvious that he was slightly uncomfortable with the subject, "I do not suppose you can tell me about your family, can you? Obviously I do not expect you to give me names or places. Well, real ones anyway." He smiled at that, making it obvious he was making something of a joke.

------

"I suppose zey could have called ze hotel if zey realized zat I was not answering. Or maybe zey could have called my brozer Gavril," Andrei replied in a way that sounded like he was merely voicing his thoughts out loud, then he stopped and his eyes went wide, "Oh God, I hope zey did not call Gavril..."

Hana smiled. "It depends on what you want to know. You've met my sister, obviously, but she's usually not that curt. You might even like her under different circumstances, though she is a bit more serious than I am. Most people think she's the elder twin."

---

"I assure you that xe has not contacted your brother," Yamamoto replied. "However, he will be contacted through our ministries shortly so he can be apprised of the situation." She was already thinking of how to set up in Andrei's hotel room, though it would be easy enough to call ahead and have someone from the FBI set up for her. Purchasing a charger wouldn't be hard either since they were in the tourist area. "Is there a reason why His Majesty should not be contacted?"

Vlad laughed at that, "You know, zat sounds exactly like how I would describe my brozer. Definitely far more serious zan I am."

------

"No, of course not. You have every reason to contact ze Voivode," Andrei replied, though he was mentally kicking himself for having said that out loud. There wouldn't have been anything wrong with them contacting Gavril, but Andrei could only imagine how angry his brother would be. Granted he'd understand after a while, but at first Gavril could only imagine his younger brother being furious with him for not contacting the police sooner. And Andrei would agree; he should've gone straight to the police instead of making a detour to help Polunu.

"Any reason why?" Hana asked.

---

Yamamoto nodded and then excused herself long enough to direct one of the policeman to purchase a car charger from a nearby store after which she returned her attention to Andrei. "As soon as xe returns with the charger, we will move this interview to your hotel room and hope the kidnapper hasn't given up on contacting us," she said. Her odds were not hopeful: surely, a kidnapper would have contacted someone with a ransom, even if that someone was out of the country, and they had heard nothing. A prince was a high value target and even if this were an international plot rather than a convenient kidnapping someone would have communicated by now. The thought of the latter, however, made her question if she needed to contact NDAISE as well.

"We'll also try giving your brother's phone a call, just in case," she continued. "Excuse me. I'm going to call ahead and make some more arrangements," she said and left the room. The SDF needed to be mobilized to search and patrol the area where Vlad disappeared, Andrei's hotel room needed to be converted into a headquarters, and NDAISE needed to be contacted in case this was part of a greater conspiracy.

Detective Hekekia returned to given her the update on the identity, which was predictably false. An ID had been manufactured for her, though an internal investigation would need to be completed to show who had made it, and she wasn't mentioned elsewhere in the database. Hekekia went back to sit with Andrei while Yamamoto continued her call.

"We'll find xem," Hekekia said to Andrei.

"Dunno. It is just ze way he is I suppose," Vlad said with a shrug, "Why is your sister more serious zan you are?"

------

Andrei nodded when Yamamoto left the room and waited patiently. It was good that things were starting to get rolling now that he'd actually contacted the police, but now that he was simply sitting around safely things were starting to completely sink in. Andrei hung his head as he thought, running through the night's events over and over again in his mind.

And when Hekekia spoke to him, Andrei just ignored him for a long moment. "Ar fi trebuit pur și simplu l-au lăsat acolo," he said finally, though it was more to himself then to Hekekia; then he looked to the Detective, "I should have just left ze man zere."
