Feoras is a land of great beauty and great sorrow. In ancient times, the isolated island was its own world, warring, celebrating, and living by its own rules. Its first contact with the outside world was violent, but it resulted in the assimilation of the invader culture into its own. However, this would not be the trend and the next encounter ended with Feoras being the assimilated party. For centuries, it was subjugated by Demonessian masters until the modern age brought with it change: enormous destruction, followed by brief freedom and then patronizing stewardship.

The island suffered from poverty, but there was still beauty to be found. While its five remaining ethnicities live in an enforced peace, the tourist areas benefit from the economic boon and generate a false sense of wealth. Tourists are attracted by Mauna Inaka, the volcanic center of the island, and the black sand beaches she generated. The gentle slope of the continental shelf allows swimmers to wade into a seemingly endless sea and walk up to boats parked in the shallows. Its coral reefs are untouched in certain parts of the island and the fauna found there are unmatched.

With the economy centered around the tourism trade, it is hard to leave the main areas. However, the adventurous tourist may find other ways to pass the time. The Genfiotes in the south control the tourism areas, making sure they are clean and presentable, as do their neighbors in Ahi'iana. The Genfiotes, however, present a curiosity: their religious leaders, known as the Undying. These leaders dress entirely in grey and cover their faces with a mask and veil. When they speak, they speak as if they are not an individual; they speak as if they are from a collective consciousness, which can be unnerving for some. In Fuwoku, one can find the farmers, who toil away in the dirt and respect animals as much as humans. For the adventurous, there is Kain, a land of warriors where the leader is determined through battle prowess. While Mpali represents the industrialized portion of the island, Isis certainly fairs the best as the seat of the former colonial masters.

Humanitarians may seek to provide relief from poverty and criminals may find a new foothold, but tourists, explorers, and travelers may find adventure.

"I'm sure the detectives will want to know more when they arrive," the officer replied.

---

Yamamoto shrugged. "It's hard to tell until he arrives, but I also find it hard to believe that they simply let your brother go, even if they didn't realize who he was. He's a tourist, so he would have money of some kind. He would have had to convince them he had nothing."

After several more minutes, the car arrived to pick up Vlad and escort him back to the hotel, where he was ushered into the "headquarters" that had been set up in his room. Yamamoto introduced herself, but Andrei was in the room with him and she was probably consequently ignored.

Vlad spent most of the ride over in silence, letting his mind wander as he drove through the streets to the hotel. His brother likewise spent the time in silence, mulling over his brother's apparent simple release and what it could mean. And when Vlad did finally arrive and enter the room, he did indeed ignore Yamamoto's introduction. Not out of any desire to be rude to the woman, but simply because as soon as they saw each other the two brothers embraced each other in a hug.

The pair simply stood there for a few long moments, not saying anything. Vlad was glad to finally actually be with his brother again, while Andrei was relieved that his brother was actually unharmed. Despite the reports, there was still a small part of him that had harboured doubts. But actually seeing his brother in the flesh and unharmed was different. "Mulțumesc lui Dumnezeu că sunt în regulă. Am fost îngrijorat," Andrei said as they released each other.

"Este bine să te văd din nou prea, Andrei," Vlad replied, "A fost o noapte lungă."

"Nu trebuie să-mi spui," Andrei said back, then glanced back at Yamamoto, "Oh, zis is Agent Yamamoto."

"I heard," Vlad replied, extending his hand towards her, "It is nice to meet you."

Yamamoto bowed. "It is a pleasure to meet you. I'm pleased that you appear to be in fine health," she said. "I'm sure you two would like to have a moment, but I do need to talk to you as soon as possible. Every minute is a lead the kidnapper has on us and I would like to bring xem to justice."

"Of course," Vlad said, though a thought ran through his mind that he wasn't entirely comfortable with. While he'd love it if his actual kidnapper was found and thrown in jail, he wasn't sure how he felt about that happening to her sister. After all, she'd been kind to him and she had given him a choice on whether to follow her. But he quickly shook that thought away; even if she hadn't kidnapped him she was probably still a criminal, and she deserved to be brought to justice. Just because she'd been nice and polite to him didn't excuse her actions, or so he tried to tell himself.

Then he turned to look to his brother, "So, Andrei..."

"It is fine, go talk to Yamamoto. She is right, ze sooner you talk the better; every minute is precious," he said, and while he didn't show it there was something weighing on his mind too. Yamamoto's mention of every minute being a lead the kidnapper had on them reminded of his idiotic attempt to find her himself. How many minutes, how many hours head start had that given the kidnapper?

"All right," Vlad said back, before looking back at Yamamoto, "Whenever you are ready, I guess."

Yamamoto nodded. She sensed the sudden shift in mood and deciding to be tactful, she said, "We've set aside an area, but we could do it right here if you prefer. We would just need to move some equipment." Vlad could have privacy if he wished without seeming to need it while at the same time she wasn't preventing him from spending the additional time with his brother either.

"Zat is not necessary," Vlad said, shaking his head, "As my brozer said, ze sooner we get started ze better." Then he turned to Andrei, "Right?"

Andrei nodded his head in agreement, and Vlad looked back to Yamamoto, "Just show ze way."

"Of course. Follow me, Your Grace," Yamamoto said, leading him off into a separate part of the room that had been sectioned off. It had a recorder set up and a pad and a stack of papers set up on one side of the table. Vlad's side of the table had been set with a moderate amount of food as the person had believed too much food would be a bad idea after his ordeal. Yamamoto let him sit first and sat across from him. "Why don't you tell me your version of events? We have been trying to trace your movements and I think it would help."

Vlad followed Yamamoto quietly, waving to his brother as he went with the Agent. Andrei waved back, and once they were in the other room he made his way to the nearest chair and sat down to think once again. Vlad sat down in the offered seat, and began to munch on the food that had been laid out.

"All right, zat is reasonable," he said, "You do not need to call me 'Your Grace' zough. I am just ze Voivode's brozer. But anyway..." Vlad began to recite his version of the night's events, assuming that Andrei had already told them how he'd been kidnapped he began with his being taken away at gunpoint. He explained that he had no idea where he'd been taken, but he was taken to what he recalled as a basement of some sorts where he met the woman's identical twin. While he had promised not to mention Hana, he'd already gone and completely forgotten about the promise and mentioned it to the cops, so there was no point in lying any more. He told Yamamoto about how his actual kidnapper had disappeared, and how her sister had dragged him along with her to various places; the roof of an apartment building and a house in a forest near the beach. He did mention that she gave him the option of leaving, but he had decided to stay since he was in an unfamiliar city with no idea how to get back to the more affluent parts of town. And he feared for his life if he went wandering around it alone in the middle of the night. Then he informed Yamamoto that he'd fallen asleep, and woken up to find the aforementioned house burning and the bag he'd given to the police, alongside the note giving directions.

Yamamoto only interrupted his narrative to ask for details about a place or event, but she spent most of the time nodding and writing notes. It occurred to her that this second woman was also a dangerous criminal of some kind and she thought it very strange that she'd let Vlad, a witness, survive, let alone follow her around all night. She asked questions about Hana's demeanor, what she said, and if he could pinpoint where she came from. Finally, when he reached the part about the bag, she asked, "Why did she give you a bag? What was in it?"

"I am not sure why she gave it to me, honestly. And it looked like it was mostly papers, but I did not really look to hard," Vlad said with a shrug, after answering all of Yamamoto's previous questions to the best of his ability, "Enough to know zat zere probably was not a bomb or anyzing in it. But ze police have already looked zrough it a lot more zan me."
