If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

"Probably not, ze only zing defensible about it is ze fact zat enemy soldiers trying to storm it would end up lost," Vasile said, chuckling a little at his joke, "But it is true, ze Palatul Regal was a far more defensible structure zan ze Castel de Nebunie."

Xel nodded, though he was actually referring to the geographic location of the castle. The Sacred Palace was located on a plateau in the center of a wide plain, which allowed it to see armies approaching the city long before they arrived. It also had a fresh water source and the plateau itself was difficult to siege. The Castel de Nebunie seemed to have no such advantage, nor did it seem of particular strategic importance.

Vasile chuckled a bit at Xel's reaction. He had known what Xel had been talking about, and had just been making a joke. And the comparison between this castle and the Palatul Regal was still valid, since while the Castel de Nebunie had no advantages for its defense, the royal Palace was built atop a large hill near a river.

"Anyway, so shall we get going down?" he said, to which Gavril just nodded his head while Gavrila responded with the same enthusiastic response as usual.

Jia Li nodded with a smile. One hand was occupied with the hand railing, assuring she had something to grab onto if she tripped, and the other gathered her skirt so that it wouldn't become a tripping hazard. The dress was really not her choice, but it was traditional garb for her station. If she'd had her way, she would at least wear pants, but she preferred jeans and a spaghetti strap blouse; the shirt would likely be nixed by Ariana and her husband, if no one else. Makoto went down first, possibly to assess any security issue, while Xel followed behind her like a father watching his child take its first steps.

Jia Li was reminded of another one of her favorite movies as a child: that of a famous adventurer exploring catacombs in an exotic locale. She'd been inspired to explore her own catacombs soon after, exposing themselves to the strange blue lights in the tunnels below, and had become disoriented, and then lost. Somehow, Hikari had taken the brunt of the blame, despite it being Jia Li's fault, and they'd had an escort for three months following the incident.

The stairs considered on for longer than one might expect, since it lead directly to the first level underground and it started on the third level of the building. The group actually stopped at landings twice, which were nowhere near equidistant from each other. When they finally reached the end of the stairs, they ended up in another hallway. However, instead of stepping onto the ground itself, they stepped onto a metal catwalk that was raised slightly. And when they looked further along the hallway, it seemed to twisted itself around 360 degrees before finally stopping at a single door. In fact, some of the 'walls' even had doors on them despite being diagonal or even horizontal.

"Oh, zis is new," Gavril said, tapping the catwalk with his feet, "When was zis added?"

"A few years ago when a woman sued over ze fact zat she twisted her ankle walking along here," Vasile replied, gesturing towards the twisted hallway in front of him.

"Well zat is no fun," Gavrila said, frowning, "I liked zis part."

Vasile just shrugged, "Sorry, I do not make ze decisions about stuff like zis."

Jia Li grinned as she leaned over and whispered to her husband. "This is definitely from a video game." She giggled while her husband just shook her head. She curiously looked over the side of the catwalk, trying to get a better picture of how the hallway would have looked years ago. She clucked her tongue. "That's a ridiculous lawsuit. It's confusing, but it's not difficult footing."

"I agree, it was a stupid lawsuit. Which is why it was zrown out," Vasile said, "But lawsuits are still expensive, and ze Ban did not want anozer one. So he just had zis installed."

"Oh, fuck zis," Gavrila said, stepping off of the catwalk onto the actual floor and grinning, "Alright, I am ready to go."

Gavril and Andreea just smiled and shook their heads, while Aurel stood near the edge of the catwalk next to Gavrila. He was old and didn't want to risk getting injured on the sloped sections.

Jia Li smiled. "I think I'll skip the rebellion today," she said. She didn't want to mess with her skirts and this was one of the times she often wondered who decided her outfit was "traditional". Some of her ancestors had been warriors and there was no way they'd fought in similar garb. The dress wasn't even structured like a handmaid's, which allowed free movement while confusing attackers and giving the illusion of being restrictive. No, this outfit was restrictive.

"Well zat is no fun," Gavrila said, "But I suppose it would be kind of hard in zat dress. Which is why I do not wear zem; pants are more comfortable."

"Hey, dresses and skirts can be comfortable too you know," Andreea said, "Maybe you should try it sometime."

"No zanks, I will pass."

Jia Li laughed. "They can be comfortable, but they can also be impractical depending on the situation. This," she said, indicating her dress, "is definitely impractical for everything except walking, but I think kimonos fall under 'dresses' and they're quite versatile."
