If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. Gavrila just shrugged. "Eh, I still prefer pants over skirts. It would be weird wearing somezing zat does not have anyzing between my legs." "Wow, you have not worn a dress in forever, have you?" Gavril said, chuckling. "Not since I could choose what to wear myself," Gavrila replied with a grin, "Not even to my wedding." |

"Pants are a relatively modern invention," Xel interjected, "and children of both genders were initially only allowed to wear dresses for ease of potty training." "I'm glad we got rid of that tradition," Jia Li replied. "I love diapers!" |

"I have to echo zat sentiment," Andreea said, smiling at Jia Li, "Diapers are a wonderful invention. "Well I still prefer pants, and nozing any of you say will convince me ozerwise," Gavrila added with a grin. |

Jia Li grinned mischievously. "Perhaps then I should invite you to an event where it's mandatory," she teased. "How do you feel about kimonos?" |

"If it does not have pants zen I consider it a dress," Gavrila replied, smirking, "And I would show up in a suit, to hell wiz what is 'mandatory'." "And stuff like zat is why I do not send you to diplomatic functions," Gavril said, sighing and shaking his head. However, he was smiling as he said it, and Gavrila just grinned and laugh in response. |

Jia Li smiled. "I will have to keep that in mind," she replied. "Especially if it works out between you and Ned." She winked. |

Gavrila just grinned and winked in response to the Empress. After a few seconds of silence, Vasile decided to speak up. "So, shall we continue ze tour?" he asked. "Oh, of course!" Gavril said, "Îmi pare rău pentru asta." Vasile shook his head before responding, "Oh no, it is fine. Zere is no need to apologize." Vasile nodded before continuing the tour once more. The group made their way across the hallway, and it was rather disorienting, since as they walked the hallway appeared to spin around them. In fact Gavrila almost tripped several times, though she blamed that on the fact that with the catwalk she didn't have the entire hallway to maneuver. Eventually they came to the end, and Gavrila stepped back onto the catwalk as Vasile opened the door at the end of the hall, and lead the group into what appeared to be a chapel. However, like the ballroom they had been in before, it was completely upside down. On the ceiling were several rows of pews set up before an altar. However, it wasn't entirely upside down. The only thing right-side-up was a statue of Mezya, located below the inverted altar. As the group was looking around the room, Vasile turned to the group, Jia Li in particular. "You said you wanted to see some of ze areas wiz no entrance, right?" he said, "Zere is one below us, zough we cannot actually get in zere, just look. Interested?" Before anyone else had the chance to answer Gavrila's eyes lit up and she responded with a "Fuck yeah!" |

Jia Li nodded slowly, though her attention was still affixed to the statue of Mezya. "I can see where the accusations of the Occult originated," she said, and then tilted her head as she tried to see the chapel from its "right" perspective. "This is very peculiar." |

Vasile tilted his head in confusion, "I am not sure I follow. Statues of Mezya are not uncommon in chapels and churches, though they generally are not as large as this. Anyway, follow me." Vasile actually lead the group over to the statue of Mezya, which looked to be built of stone and quite detailed thanks to the fact that it had been sitting here since it was built, away from wind and water that may have eroded its surface. Then Vasile put his hands on the statue and pushed. At first nothing happened, but after a moment the statue began to budge and roll backwards on small wheels affixed to the bottom of it. Apparently it was designed to be rolled out of the way, and once Vasile had finished moving it it revealed a small square hole in the ground. The hole was only wide enough to fit a single person, and then only just barely, and there didn't seem to be any ay of getting back out. However, from the chapel one could see what appeared to be a fairly large hall with numerous stone chairs arrayed in a circle. The smell of must and mold also drifted up from the room, and it was fairly obvious that is was due to the several inches of water that soaked and waterlogged the entire room below them. "You can have a look, but be careful," Vasile said, then chuckled, "We do not want anyone falling in." Gavrila began to make her way over to the hole, before Gavril grabbed the back of her collar and stopped her. "Jia Li, would you like to have ze first look?" he asked politely. |

OOC: I thought the statue was upside down in comparison to the room. :S IC: Jia Li smirked at Gavrila and replied. "If you don't mind," she replied. She knelt as she leaned over the hole and it looked as if Xel was ready to haul her back by her belt. She gathered her long hair into a ponytail, twisted it, and held it by her side so that it didn't get in her way as she looked down. "Why hasn't this been cleared?" she asked. "It seems like a rope of some kind would be sufficient to come back out. Of course, only small people would be able to enter, but it looks interesting down there." Xel wrinkled his nose as Jia Li removed herself from the entrance, catching the scent of mold. He was certain that Jia Li would have an allergic reaction, if not now then tonight, but he wouldn't have been able to talk her out of the exploration. She always insisted she wasn't as fragile as everyone believed. "What do you know about the room?" she continued. |
