If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. Vasile nodded at what Jia Li had said, "True, it is all speculation. Which I zink is a pity; zere is just so little we know about ze castle for certain. I zink zat is one of ze zings zat interests me ze most about it." As the tour guide spoke, he seemed to be more musing to himself. When he was done, he stopped for a moment, embarassed, before heading back to the statue of Mezya and pushing it back into place over the hole. "Anyway, I zink we should be heading onwards," he said as he pushed the statue, "Not much else to see in zis room." "Of course. Lead ze way," Gavril replied. And with that Vasile nodded and lead the group through a door off to the side of the room. The tour continued on much as it had before, with the strange and oftentimes nonsensical architecture pervading every room they entered. Though now there were stretches of bare cave; it wasn't a single section of cave, but rather several sections of bare cave that connected pieces of what appeared to be an actual structure. Eventually they came to a set of stairs built right into a section of cave. And everyone could tell that it lead back up to upper levels as they could see the bright daylight coming in from the top of the stairs. Gavrila was visibly saddened by this, since she'd definitely been enjoying herself and the trip. She'd acted almost like a child, and by the end Vasile no longer felt uncomfortable telling her what to do or to stop doing something, despite her being nobility. Gavril and Andreea didn't really mind as much, they'd enjoyed it but unlike Gavrila weren't fully unrestrained in their enjoyment of the strange structure. The stairs were actually the same set that the group had seen on the other side of the window when entering the castle, and they could see the entrance as they made their way up. The stair themselves lead to yet another room, and they made their way through several more rooms and down a short flight of stairs before exiting out into the first hallway they'd seen. The sunlight was streaking through the windows, though it was still fairly early in the day; the tour had only taken about 2 hours. Vasile set his duffle bag down as they made their way out of the Castel de Nebunie, and once he lead them out of the castle and began heading towards the visitor's center he turned to look at everyone there. "So, what did you all zink?" he asked. "Care a fost al naibii de grozav!" Gavrila replied immediately, and loudly as well. "It was quite ze tour," Gavril replied, "I enjoyed it, and I have to say zat it was definitely worz it." Andreea simply nodded her head and gave her assent as both Gavril and Vasile looked to Jia Li, curious about her opinion on the tour. |

Jia Li laughed. "I was a bit surprised to end up back at the start," she admitted. "I definitely enjoyed it though. It was a very surreal experience and I'm probably going to be thinking about the Castel de Nebunie for a long time after we leave." She turned and glanced at Xel, who nodded. "We'll probably debate about what Carol was thinking," he agreed. "It was also a bit like..." She trailed off as she tried to come up with an appropriate analogy. "That book about the girl who went through the mirror and explored the strange world on the other side." Her grin widened. "I liked being able to walk on the ceiling!" |

"I am not familiar wiz zat book," Gavril said, and the other Cetatsens nodded in agreement, "But anyway, I have to agree zat is was surreal, as you put it. And I am glad it made an impression." "And yeah, walking on ze ceiling was awesome," Gavrila replied with a grin, "Especially in ze ballroom. I am glad zat I took zose pictures." |

Gavrila grinned in response, "I will have to e-mail you ze ones you want. We can figure zat out later, right now I want to get back to ze palace and eat." "You are not hungry again, are you?" Gavril asked, before shaking his head and smiling, "Nevermind, I forgot who I was talking to for a moment." "First we need to stop by ze visitor's center and ze zose 'before-and-after' pictures," Andreea said, "You wanted to see zose, did you not?" |

"Oh yes!" Jia Li exclaimed, remembering. "Yes, and I think it'll be particularly dramatic now that I've seen the inside." |

"Alright, well zen follow me," Vasile said, and the Cetatsens nodded their heads. Gavrila was, as usual, grinning; she'd forgotten about it too, and it seemed to peak her interest. Vasile lead the group back to the visitor's center, and then pointed them in the direction of the room. "It is right down zere," he said, before nodding respectfully to everyone, "I have to say it was a pleasure being your tour guide today, and I am glad zat you enjoyed yourselves." Gavril strode over and, grinning, took Vasile's hand in his own and gave him a firm handshake, "It was a pleasure as well, you did a wonderful job." At that Vasile just nodded, obviously rather embarrassed by the praise, "Zank you Voivode." And with that, Vasile made his way away from the group, into the back of the visitor's center. Gavril then lead the way to the room Vasile had gestured to. The room itself was rather small, but it made up for this by having every inch of the space being devoted to the photos. They were placed on the walls and in displays in front of the walls, each photo being in a set of two; one depicting a place before the restoration had begun and another depicting it after. It was an interesting thing to see, since the castle had been abandoned for quite a long time before being restored. There was an image of the chandelier in the inverted ballroom collapsed and broken into several large pieces, sections of the underground damaged by water, shattered windows, broken and rundown staircases, and numerous pictures of the castle in various states of ruin and disarray. In fact, some images looked like if they had been any worse, the castle would've fallen down. However, not all of them were like that; some rooms seemed to differ little before and after the restoration, with the exception of not being as covered in dust and cobwebs. Gavril let Jia Li get a good look at the photographs, taking the time to study them as well, while gavrila was, for once, silent as she looked at the numerous pictures as well. In fact, all the Cetatsens with the exception of Lieutenant Dalca and Aurel were engrossed by the images adorning the walls. |

Despite not usually being interested in these sorts of things, Jia Li spent a long time studying the photographs with her husband and Makoto. In this case, not only was she fascinated by the decay of a relatively stable and impervious structure to time, but also in the effort of its restoration. She'd noticed how quickly nature tended to reclaim abandoned human habitations and she wondered how the Castel de Nebunie, which hadn't really been inhabited in the first place, compared. After she studied a few of the relatively untouched rooms, she started to skip their photographs and looked for the more difficult restorations. Occasionally, she or her husband would point at a photograph and maybe exchange a few words, and Makoto would sometimes smirk, likely thinking something inappropriate to the situation, or nod to Dalca and Aurel. When she was done, Jia Li waited patiently for her hosts. |

By the time that Jia Li was finished, the Cetatsens had mostly finished as well. Gavrila was the exception, and continued looking at the pictures for a few minutes longer while Gavril turned to the Empress and spoke. "So, what do you zink?" he said, "I zink some of ze restorations were razer impressive." "I find it more interesting zat some of ze rooms managed to last for all zose years wizout decaying much at all," Andreea said. |

Jia Li nodded. "I agree. I'm surprised that they were able to save as much as they could," she replied. Turning to Andreea, she added, "Why do you say that?" |
