If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

Gavril nodded his head in understanding. "Zat is fine, I did not expect you to know too much. I was just curious," he said, "Zough I do have a question, what is a ziryamoya? And why would people hunt zem for population control?"

"Do zey breed like rats?" Gavrila asked, smiling at her own joke. Gavril just raised one of his eyebrows at her, while Andreea ignored it.

Jia Li looked to Xel and frowned before answering. "Ziryamoya" was an archaic Morai word that directly translated to "servant", but that was not the word Jia Li wanted. "Ano nee... It is a creature that was used for transportation before the introduction of the horse and now they live in feral herds," she replied. "They look a bit like antelope but thicker and they have fangs."

"Deer," Xel supplied.

"Oh yes, deer," she agreed. "Their population needs to remain low or they'll out breed everything. Predators help control the population, of course, but only chitaels will venture near cities and hunt in their vicinity."

"So they are feral beasts of burden? Interesting," Gavril said, thinking, "I do find it strange zat zey can reproduce so fast zat zere is ze danger of zem outbreeding ozer animals. Usually native predators deal wiz zat, and I usually only see zat issue wiz introduced species wiz no natural predators."

"Wait, wait, wait a minute," Gavrila said suddenly, "You said only chitaels hunt near ze cities; you mean to tell me zere are fanged deer zat live near cities in Demoness?"

Jia Li nodded. "Is that odd?" she asked. "Our livelihood depended on them. They weren't just transportation, but they were also a food source, and they were bred for that purpose. I believe they were exported to other parts of the nation where they weren't native and their populations stabilized at a high level." She shrugged. "Or maybe the tiger was one of their natural predators. They aren't a problem everywhere, but I think the Morikarans still encourage excessive breeding so they still have a 'free' food source when they return to their campgrounds later in the year."

"I suppose tigers may have been zere natural predators," Gavril said, still thinking, "I do remember you mentioning zat zere used to be tigers in Demoness, and if zeir only natural predator went extinct zis might be ze result."

"I still just zink it is weird zat zere are fanged deer living near zeir cities," Gavrila said, shaking her head slowly as she repeated herself, "You said ze Castel de Nebunie was like somezing out of a video game, well zat sounds like somezing out of a video game."

Jia Li shrugged. "I never gave a second thought to it. Are you saying that deer don't normally have fangs?" she asked seriously. "I thought it might be the difference between deer and antelope. Males have horns, but they're not as good as fangs for defending themselves and both sexes have those."

"Deer have teez. Because zey eat grass," Gavrila replied, "Pretty sure zat most zings wiz fangs eat meat."

"True, from what I know most herbivores have ozer ways of defending zemselves," Gavril said, "Antlers, horns, tusks, and zings like zat. Most animals wiz fangs are carnivores or omnivores; zough I do not zink zat it necessarily a set rule. Even discounting ziryamoras."

Jia Li shrugged. "I honestly never thought much of it. They are like tusks, but pointed down instead of up," she replied. "There are plenty of herbivores like that. There are legends that ziryamoras will eat meat, but I have personally never heard of it occurring."

"Wait, so are zey tusks or are zey fangs?" Gavril asked, then waved it off, "Eh, nevermind. I will look zem up later and see for myself."

"I zink I will have to have a look to," Gavrila said, grinning, "Because now I am imagining a deer wiz walrus tusks or somezing, and it just looks stupid."

Jia Li laughed. "I think you will see that they are not ridiculous looking," she said. "But they are quite stubborn from what I understand. Some people still keep them domesticated and I spoke with a trainer when I was considering adding a few to my stable." She laughed. "He honestly said it wasn't worth it!"
