If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

"Hey, I am not saying zat all old people are like zat, look at Aurel here. Over 90 years old and he is just as healzy as a man half his age," Gavrila said, "But only an idiot would say zat ze average 20 year-old and ze average 70-year old zink ze same way. Yeah, ze 70 year old knows more but he cannot zink as fast. Zere were actually words for zem, but I will be damned if I remember zem now."

"Crystallized and fluid intelligence," Andreea added, "And I would have to agree wiz my cousin on zis one. While not all elderly people show it, people's mental state does tend to decline after a certain age. It is a part of growing old."

"Nevertheless, that does not detract from the original point, which is that one's elders should be respected," Xel replied.

"True, but everyone deserves respect," Andreea said, "At least until they prove zemselves unworzy."

"Yeah, pretty much zat," Gavrila replied, pointing to Andreea with her thumb, "Elderly people do not get any extra respect just for being old."

While this conversation was going on both Gavril and Aurel were simply sitting back and letting it go back and forth. Gavril simply saw nothing particularly important to add, though he agreed with his relatives. Aurel himself was of a similar mind, and he wasn't particularly offended by what Gavrila and Andreea were saying about the elderly. After all, what they were saying was true and he saw no reason to get offended over the truth.

"Then it is a cultural difference," Xel replied simply. It didn't matter he sometimes didn't see it as true either, but it was deeply ingrained within all of them, no matter how badly an elder might treat them. While they had all taken exception at times, it didn't make it any less important.

"I suppose it is," Andreea replied, just as simply. It was true, and it was a reasonable explanation; there were already plenty of other differences between Demonessians and Cetatsens and this wasn't a particularly major difference by any means.

------

After this the group continued on the long car ride back to Albraustana-zid. The group conversed back and forth, though it was of topics of no consequence and certainly nothing that sparked any sort of debate. Not that Gavrila didn't try whenever she spotted the opportunity; she just liked arguing for the sake of arguing sometimes. Plus she considered a nice debate now and again as a good thing. By the time the car began approaching the city, the sun was high up in the sky though it wasn't quite noon yet. But regardless of that fact, it was still time for lunch back at the Palatul Regal, something which Gavrila was obviously looking forward to if her grinning and inability to sit still in her seat were any indication.

"You can settle down, you know," Gavril said, grinning over at his cousin, "We are only a few minutes away."

"No zank you, I am good," she replied with a smirk, as she stopped moving for a moment to stretch her arms out above her head, "I just cannot wait to get out of zis damn car, my legs are falling asleep."

Jia Li giggled. "You can stretch them, you know," she teased. "Even slightly."

"Ze key word zere is 'slightly'," Gavrila said, "When you can only slightly stretch your legs for an hour, it is like not being able to stretch zem at all."

"Well look on ze bright side, at least we are not on a boat," Andreea said, a faint smile playing across her face. She was making fun of Gavrila's distaste for boat rides and seasickness, not that the Demonessians would know anything about that.

"Ugh, do not even mention zat," the Knezinja replied, then stretched once more, this time yawning as well, "I just want to get to back to ze Palace. And zen go to ze Museum, zat should be fun."

Jia Li shook her head. "I don't think I'd care too much for a boat either, honestly," she replied. "Nausea and I have never had a working relationship and, unfortunately, the only time I was on a larger ship was for ceremonial purposes that I'd rather not repeat," she added, alluding to her sister's execution at sea. "But I take it Gavrila has issues?"

"I just hate boats," Gavrila replied simply.

"She gets seasick," Gavril said.

"And she does not like being out on ze water," Andreea added.

"Hey, zat is bullshit; I have no problem being out on ze water," Gavrila said, "So long as I can actually see ze land."

Jia Li smiled. "Then you will fit in Demoness well. Despite having a powerful navy, historically and culturally, our people were afraid of large bodies of water. It's surprising actually that we were ever able to expand at all."

"Sometimes ambition allows us to get over our fears," Xel interjected. "Though that statement isn't entirely true. One of the Clans is as home in the water as a dolphin."

She shrugged. "Yes, but they also have different beliefs about Du Isa," she replied.
