If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

"I do not take offense at all," Gavril replied, grinning as he opened the door to the palace's exterior. The sun was still high in the sky, and there was barely any clouds to be seen, "After all, security's job is to worry and be cautious, is it not?"

Jia Li nodded. "Sometimes overly so," she replied, glancing at her husband. At times his caution amused her while at others it annoyed her, but it was always understandable. They had been through several difficulties together, including near-death incidents.

She looked up at the sky. "Beautiful day," she said. "It's a bit chilly though."

"Just be glad you are not up in Sudest," Gavrila said with her typical grin, "Cold as hell down zere, and a snowstorm just blew in too."

"I bet you just came down here to escape ze Highland weazer," Andreea smirked, "You have lived up zere all your life, you figure you would be used to it by now."

"Hey, I may be used to it, but I will be damned if zat means I have to like it," Gavrila replied playfully.

"Snow?" Jia Li asked. "Isn't it a bit late for snow?" She shuddered and was grateful she wasn't in Sudest. Snow was pretty, but only from afar.

"Um, it is November. It is ze middle of ze winter up here," Gavrila replied, then grinned, "It is not like down in ze tropics where you live."

"Technically it is still Autumn, winter does not start until next monz," Gavril replied, before a grin came across his face and he laughed, "Zough considering how cold it is up in ze Highlands you are forgiven for zinking ozerwise."

"Yeah, you all down in ze Basin have it easy," Gavrila laughed.

OOC: Are we still playing as if it's when we started? Oops. >.>

IC:
Jia Li shrugged. "The change between seasons is so drastic up north," she replied. "You can hardly tell the shift in seasons apart from perhaps being a bit rainier or windier and the length of the day shifting slightly. I don't envy you at all."

OOC: Oh, yeah. Whoops, sorry about that, I just kinda assumed you assumed that we were too.

"Eh, to be honest you get used to it. Living somewhere where zere is not really too much of a difference between seasons is strange to us," Gavril said, "We are used to hot summers and cold winters; up here zat is just ze way zings are."

"Hey, not everywhere," Gavrila joked, "Some mountains are covered in snow all year around."

By this point the group had reached the car once more, though the Voivode's security detail all piled into another black car that had pulled up while Gavril and his guests were eating lunch. As usual Aurel held open the door for everyone else and only entered the car itself once everyone else had sat down.

OOC: Yeah, I'm used to playing with fluid time. It's easier than trying to remember sometimes.

IC:
The Demonessians entered the car as they had previously, with Jia Li sitting in the middle, and she settled in quite contentedly next to her husband. However, a young woman joined them before Aurel could shut the door. Judging from her attire, she was one of the handmaids, but she made no move to introduce herself. Instead, Makoto acknowledged her with a nod and Jia Li smiled a greeting, but she made no move to add a verbal component. Ariana had been cross that she was not allowed to accompany Jia Li that morning and the empress assumed the handmaid's addition was her way of compromising.

"I can't imagine that," Jia Li said, shaking her head. "There is occasionally snow in the Spine Mountains, but it never lasts long and it's not particularly cold." She paused. "Well, I suppose it has to be, but I don't think the peak is anywhere near as cold as here."

The Cetatsens noticed the newly arrived handmaid, but they didn't particularly mind. Another servant of the Empress's accompanying them wasn't that big of a deal, though they did find it strange that she didn't even make a move to introduce herself.

Gavrila was quick to turn her attention from the handmaid and back to the conversation at hand and grinned, "Zen you would fucking hate ze Vedic Mountains. It is not all of zem, but zere are a hell of a lot of vârfalbi up zere."

"Ze most famous of which is Ciocaninima, Hammer Heart," Gavril added, "It is a fairly massive mountain, and in fact people die every year trying to reach ze summit."

"Why is that?" Jia Li asked curiously. "Is it that difficult a climb or is the weather that severe?"

While the Cetatsens might find it strange, it was a difference in culture and approach for the handmaid not to introduce herself. She was meant to act as a servant and be essentially invisible to guests. It was debatable whether some aspects of Demonessian society were still stuck in the feudal age or if was part of their strict societal rules.
