If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. "Ah, of course," Gavril said, chuckling, "My apologies, we got a little sidetracked here." "Yeah, time to see what else is here," Gavrila said, "Should be interesting at least." The group made their way through the rest of the exhibit, taking in the sights of the remaining Ketat, and eventually Keta-Aramyk, artifacts that were on display. At the end of this exhibit was an exit to the central portion of the museum, as well as a staircase leading to the second floor. "So, next is ze Lach, right?" Gavrila asked. Gavril nodded his head, "I believe so. If I am not missing any important periods of time." Once the group made its way up, the two Cetatsens would be proven correctly. This exhibit focused primarily upon the invasion of the Lach and the effect it had on the region. It gave a brief overview of how it tore Intermarium apart and replaced it with the loose confederacy that would be Intermaris's first incarnation, but it was mostly focused on the region that would come to be Cetatsenia. It told of how the Keta-Aramyk would come to be pushed back to the Basin and the surrounding highlands and mountains, and of how these people fractured politically in the chaos. The numerous Knezi that then ruled the region swore fealty to the confederacy to save themselves from conquest. "And zat is big-ass invasion #3," Gavrila said. "And also ze last one," Gavril replied, "Not zat ze region would be a peaceful place." |

"Just how many times has Cetatsenia been invaded?" Jia Li asked curiously, pausing from her browsing. "Aside from GWII, of course." Her finger was on the word "Lach"; she was waiting to ask how it was pronounced as it was also a curiosity, but not as important as the rest of the history. |

"Well, first was ze Aramyk. Zen ze Ketats, and after zat was ze Lach," Gavril said, counting each one off on his fingers, "Granted zere was still wars and battles fought afterwards, but nozing quite like a full scale until ze Second Great War." "And each one left zeir mark on ze people," Andreea said. |

Jia Li nodded. "Which makes sense. Invaders often transmit their culture to their victims, either by willing assimilation or through necessity. It has been interesting learning the history of your people." |

"Why zank you," Gavril said to the Empress, "I appreciate it. Perhaps at some point I can make anozer visit to Demoness and visit a museum zere. You can learn a lot from books, but I find museums to be more engaging." |

She smiled. "If that's your wish. Or we could visit the countryside where you might see some of the older lifestyles still in action. The rural areas don't have much of an incentive to change, despite the technology. Either way, I would be glad to give you a tour." |

"Zat would be fascinating, I would love to," Gavril said, then chuckled, "Assuming, of course, zat I am free enough to take time off and visit anozer country." "Eh, just take a break from work if you want. You probably deserve it," Gavrila said with a shrug, "It is hard enough dealing wiz a Knezate. I cannot imagine dealing wiz ze entire fucking country." "I am not as lazy as you are," Gavril teased, "And it is not as bad as you might zink." |

Jia Li nodded. "Part of being a leader is knowing when to delegate because if you don't, you can drive yourself crazy. The same thing goes with vacationing." She laughed. "Though I have to admit that this visit is turning more into a vacation than was intended and it's nice, but if we don't discuss business for a few consecutive hours I fear my ministers might be upset." |

"Well so long as we do conduct some business, zen zings should be fine," Gavril said with a laugh, "But just not right zis minute; it can wait until we finish here." "You sound like Gavrila," Andreea said, a slight smirk on her face, "And ze consiliu may feel ze same way if you do not actually get anyzing done." "Well we are going to get zings done," Gavril protested, "Just not right zis moment." Gavrila shook her head and laughed at the scene, grinning as she looked at Jia Li, "Hell, you probably deserve a vacation. After all, it cannot be easy being a Goddess." |

Jia Li shook her head. "No, it isn't. I can't say that I have experience being a normal leader, but there is more pressure to be infallible I believe and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm not really looking forward to my daughter accepting the mantle, but she needs to be better prepared than I was. I can't postpone her training forever as much as I'd like." |
