If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. Andreea nodded her head in understanding at the Empress's words, though she had more mundane things to worry about with her daughters. "As much as you may want to, you cannot protect your children forever," she said, "It may be hard, but zey are better off for it in ze end." Meanwhile both Gavril and Gavrila shook their heads sadly. "I cannot imagine ze burden of infallibility," the Voivode said, "After all, everyone makes mistakes." "Nobody should have to be perfect," Gavrila added, "Expecting anyone to be is just royally fucked up." |

"Perfection is a large part of our culture as well, though. I can't really explain the preference on a cultural basis, but the higher you go, the more you're expected to be perfect." Jia Li shrugged. "Maybe it's because people want perfect leaders." |

"I suppose it is similar here, after all you do not want your leaders to make mistakes," Gavril said, "But, well, ze boieri do not have keep up an appearance of infallible divinity." "Zank fucking God for zat," Gavrila added. |

Jia Li smiled. "Ironic choice of words," she replied. She nodded. "We're getting a little heavy here. What about the rest of the tour?" |

Gavril chuckled, "Ha, true. It would probably be best if we continue on wiz ze tour." "And Ioan I is coming up soon," Gavrila said, grinning, "He was an awesome son of a bitch." "Sometimes it is strange to zink about how we are his direct descendants," Andreea added, as the group began making their way through the exhibit to the next. The next was another of the more 'interim' exhibits, there were some important events but nothing exceptionally major. It was simply about the time period between the Keta-Aramyk joining the Lach's confederation and Ioan I's conquest. In truth the Knezi involved themselves in the affairs of the confederation as whole less than other nobles, not particularly caring for it in the slightest. Most didn't have any sort of loyalty to their liege in the slightest. |

Jia Li studied the exhibit. She was familiar with nobles, even in the present, who only did things because it benefited them. She didn't have much taste for people like that, but she supposed that staying neutral could have its advantage for people as well. After all, the region could be overlooked if it drew no attention. |

None of the Cetatsens saw anything that was worth starting a conversation over within the exhibit. So eventually the group made its way to the next exhibit. And the first thing they would notice would be a statue of Ioan I. It was worn down from age, but it was still obviously the same man as the statue in front of the Palatul Regal. While he wasn't wearing the same outfit, this statue depicted him what was probably more historically accurate chainmail rather than plate armour, he still had the same long and wild mane and absolutely massive beard. "Ioan I. First Voivode of ze Cetatsens, founder of Cetatsenia, and progenitor of House Suveraneshti," Gavril said, gazing up at the statue, "Sometimes I find it amazing zat I am descended from such a great man." "Hey, you are not exactly alone in zat zere," Gavrila said with a grin, "Zere are zree of us here." |

Jia Li smiled. "It is certainly something to be proud of," she replied. "Not many people can make such a claim, be it from Ioan or from other great people, so I would take pride in it." She turned back to the statue. "Though it is a little queer sometimes to think of it that way. People sometimes seem surreal after you've heard their stories so many times that it seems impossible that they had descendants." |

Gavril smiled as well, "Agreed. Sometimes it gets to ze point zat even zough zey are a historical figure, zey just seem larger zan life." "Not to mention zat House Suveraneshti has been Cetatsenia's only royal house," Andreea said, "We may not be ze oldest country, but most go zrough a change in dynasties at least once in 800 years." |

"That is quite fortunate as well," Jia Li replied. "While our country is old and we have a matriarchal line, I would not say that it is unbroken, at least in the genetic sense, and there were families that held significant influence. Unfortunately, Clans Nedia and Katsuragi are said to hold great influence now due to current blood ties." She exchanged look with her husband, letting him know she was more knowledgeable about Clan politics than she claimed. Though Nedia did not claim it publicly, they took advantage of the fact that Elisa was technically related to the Nedia matriarch through her father, though the separation was more significant than typical of Clan relations. Xel was related to the matriarchal family through a purposefully negated bloodline, but he was less than two generations removed from the current matriarch. Clan Katsuragi was much closer in relation as Jia Li's father, Ashuril, was the son of the current matriarch, but they made less use of that claim. |
