If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. "Yeah, we need to stop talking and actually look at ze damn exhibits," Gavrila said, laughing. "True, I suppose it is for ze best zat we get moving," Gavril said, "And we can always talk later anyway." Gavril lead the group through the museum, through several more exhibits. They explained the medieval period in Cetatsenia's history; the nation's ups and down, conflicts both between Cetatsenia and its neighbours and between nobles within Cetatsenia itself. But overall the state was rather stable for most of its history, though that isn't to say it never had periods of instability. Eventually they came to another set of stairs, and there the exhibits began to depict early-modern Cetatsenia. It was a state with rulers adopting newer Enlightened ideals despite continuing as an absolute monarchy. The nation was becoming heavily centralized and there were many reforms by the Voivodes and the Knezi both. Eventually they passed through the First Great War exhibit, which included the Interim between the Great Wars as well owing to Cetatsenia's small part in the First War. The next exhibit would be the Second Great War, but the group stopped before they actually entered the exhibit. Gavrila looked over at Aurel, her expression and voice far more subdued than normal, "Te simți bine?" "Eu voi fi bine," the old man replied after a long moment. He was staring into the doorway to the exhibit, and though it was subtle, one could tell from his expression that all was not well. Gavrila shook her head before speaking again, "Așteptați-ne lângă expoziția următoare." "Dar-" "Nici un dar." Aurel sighed, though a look of relief crossed his face. "Cum doriti, doamna," he said, then nodded his head and left, making his way around this exhibit to the next. "Well, I suppose zat is probably for ze best," Gavril said, "At least he did not argue." Gavrila just grinned and waved it off, though she kept glancing off in the direction that Aurel had left, "Eh, he grew out of zat years before I was even born." |

Jia Li tilted her head. She understood without knowing the words that the exhibit probably disturbed Aurel, but she wasn't sure to what Gavrila referred. "What do you mean? Arguing?" |

"Huh? Oh, no. If I was going to do somezing really stupid, you can guarantee zat Aurel would try and stop me," Gavrila said, then stopped for a moment to think over her words, "Well... You know how Aurel fought in ze Second Great War, right? Zat is not somezing you go zrough wizout scars, and not just physical ones. According to what he has told me himself, zere was a time zat Aurel did not really accept zat mental stuff was just anozer injury. So he would expose himself to stuff from ze war to try and, I do not know, get over it or somezing." "Apparently Aurel used to be razer headstrong and brash when he was younger," Andreea said, "Zough none of us have ever seen him zat way." |

Jia Li nodded. "I understand. I think mental illness is just now starting to gain acceptance and I have to admit that I have some difficulty accepting it myself," she admitted. "I know a lot of people who were 'mentally ill' and I don't see it as an excuse of their behavior." Xel reached over and squeezed her side, but she moved away. The wound her father had inflicted upon her was deep, but he was not the only one to ever act without regard to others. She'd heard - confidentially, of course - that her Katsuragi bloodline was tainted by mental illness and while that would explain behavior, she didn't see it as anything but an excuse. "Not that I think that's what you mean. I have a friend I think is mentally scarred as well, but it is hard to give credence to a wound one cannot see." |

"Definitely," Gavrila said with a nod, taking the whole conversation more seriously than she normally did, "But he has gotten better, I zink. Hell, we can talk about it when he is around and from what he has told me, zat is an improvement." "Anyway, I zink it best if we do not keep Aurel waiting any longer zan necessary," Gavril said, "So shall we continue?" |

Jia Li nodded. "Of course. It's also rude to talk about him while he waits on us," she added with a small smile. |

The Cetatsens smiled as well, with Gavril adding "Well, I suppose zere is zat too," before leading the group into the first exhibit. It primarily dealt with Cetatsenia right before the Second Great War, as well as the invasion itself. It was no surprise that the Cetatsens were defeated, as their military was sadly out-dated by the time the invasion came. While not everything was obsolete, the Cetatsen military had failed to realize the importance of aircraft and tanks. This was displayed quite well in a tank that was displayed in the center of the room, or rather a tankette. The armoured vehicle had no turret, and was only equipped with a pair of machine guns on the front. In addition to this, the machine wasn't even 5 feet tall. When he saw it, Gavril sighed shook his head. "One has to wonder who zought zose zings were a good idea," he said, pointing it out to the group. "Hey, I zink it is cute," Gavrila said with a grin and a laugh. Edited by Cetatsenia, Aug 7 2014, 12:09 PM.

Jia Li smiled. "I agree." She stilted her head as she looked at it. Despite its importance in history, she was never really interested in the Global Wars or really any history. It was hard to blame her though. Her history tutor had given notoriously boring lectures, but Xel had been resolute enough to take notes for her and helped her study. She still barely passed and it was only recently that she got any better with retaking those lessons. "To be fair, it is the first of its kind. Most of them were making it up as they went along, ne?" Xel scowled. "True and it probably does exactly what it was designed to do. I doubt it was meant to go against other armored vehicles as there weren't many at the time. All nations were experimenting." |

"No, Cetatsenia was not experimenting, which is ze entire point," Gavril said; he was obviously irritated, though he wasn't irritated at the Demonessians but rather at the Cetatsens of the past, "Zis zing was nozing more zan a token effort. Somezing to say 'look, we are doing somezing,' when in truz all of zem zought ze new technology to be nozing more of a passing fancy. And when zey went up against zose who embraced zese advances, well, I do not need to tell you what ze result was." |

Xel nodded. "Underestimating your enemy is always the worst mistake," he agreed. "When did they start to take technology seriously?" |
