If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

"Well, zat is good to know. And ze library is partially just Albraustana-zid's public library," Gavril told Jia Li as the group began making its way to the Library, "But zere is a restricted section in which older and more valuable books are contained, and some of zem are centuries old."

"Very interesting," Jia Li replied. "I don't really read them, but I find the older books fascinating. Paper is so fragile, but their ideas live on. Shall we?"

Gavril nodded, "Of course." And lead the group up the stairs and into the library, the people inside looked on curiously like the people outside, but none made any movement towards the group. The interior of the library was very spacious, with a large open area in the centre that had several tables arranged around a stone statue of Minte, formerly the pagan Goddess of Wisdom and now the Aspect of God that embodies wisdom. She had long hair that reached down to her waist, and wore a robe that left the left half of her chest bare; she held a scroll in one hand and a book in the other. The Library had four levels, all of which had an opening in them above the spacious area on the first floor, and bookshelves lined the area around the middle and all three of the other levels.

Gavril, Andreea, and Gavrila all stared up at the statue; Gavril and Andreea with a look that said 'oops', while Gavrila herself was grinning ear to ear, waiting for the Demonessian's reaction. Gavril coughed, "Ah, yes, I, uh, I may have forgotten about zat statue. Zat is Minte, ze Aspect of God zat embodies Wisdom. Anyway, do you wish to sit down?"

Jia Li looked curiously at the statue, wondering what a bared breast had to do with wisdom, and moved on to appreciate the architecture. Like other Demonessians, she had an appreciation for natural light. "For now, yes, but I think I might want to explore later on," she agreed. Xel pulled out a chair and offered her the seat before taking one himself; it was ambiguous if this gesture was due to his affection for her or may have been part of their matriarchal society. Makoto took a position near them while Ariana disappeared into the perimeter.

Jia Li nodded toward the statue. "Why is Minte's breast uncovered? Is that symbolic?"

Gavril's security also left the group, forming a perimeter around them where they could monitor both the group and anyone around them. Both Gavril and Andreea pulled out their own seats, while Aurel pulled put Gavrila's seat before he took his own. Gavril thought about Jia Li's question for a moment before replied with a, "Um, maybe? I am not entirely sure."

Andreea shook her head and smiled, "Actually, some historians do believe zere is a reason behind her traditional representation. Most images from ze Keta-Aramyk era of our history zat depict women depict zem in similar dress. And ze Aramyk civilization of Intermarium was viewed as a beacon of knowledge and wisdom, so historians believe zere to be some relation zere, even zough it is not entirely certain actual Aramyk women dressed in such a way on a regular basis."

"It seems like it would be too cold here to do that on a regular basis," Jia Li replied. "Maybe on special occasions, but as everyday wear?" She shook her head. Of course, she was also used to temperatures that rarely dipped below seventy Fahrenheit and that made a marked difference in her opinion about climate.

"Hey, it is not as cold as you might zink," Gavrila said, "You are just visiting in ze middle of November."

Gavril chuckled, "My cousin has a point, unless you're up in ze Nordic Highlands or Vestic Mountains ze Summer and Springs are quite warm. Zough zey are probably still not as warm as you are used to on a regular basis."

"Oh, yeah!" Gavrila said, "Sometimes you can see some Cetatsens from ze higher parts of ze mountains walking around down here in ze middle of winter wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts. It is kind of funny, to be honest."

Jia Li shook her head. "I would never do that. I would have to keep bundled up the whole winter!" She shuddered, as if an Arctic breeze had blown through, but it was unlikely she would have felt it anyway. The Demonessians tended to wear airy clothes when not dressed in kimonos, which allowed breezes to flow freely through their fabrics, but she wore heavier fabrics and several layers with her dress.

Gavrila smiled and laughed, "Well, I guess zat is ze downside of living in ze tropics. You cannot stand ze cold."

"Oh, hush Gavrila," Andreea said with a sideways glance to her cousin, "You bundle up in ze dead of Winter too."

Gavrila gave her cousin a mildly irritated look, "A jacket isn't bundling up, Andreea."

"I have seen you in more zan just a jacket," Gavril said, "As I recall last winter you visited and were dressed in a coat and jacket. And several pairs of socks a a pair of gloves."

"Eh, last winter was really cold," Gavrila said dismissively, and both her cousins laughed. Though it was true that the previous winter had been abnormally cold, so they really didn't have any reason to laugh at her. But it was all in good fun.

"Anyway, I cannot imagine living in ze tropics," Gavril said, "It would be far too hot for my tastes. Especially since my formal wear includes zis coat." He gestured to the large greatcoat he was wearing for emphasis.

Jia Li laughed. "I'm sure you would adapt. Our formal wear allows for a lot of air circulation, even the constrictive clothing. We really don't have restrictive fabrics and I only wear multiple layers on special occasions." She smiled. "Like my wedding, and even those aren't that warm."
