If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

"Yeah, one can only hope zeir children turn out well," Gavrila said, "Sometimes I wish I had my own. But I would need to be married first, and I am glad I did not have any wiz my ex."

"Would I be correct in assuming your daughter is more formal and traditional zan you are?" Andreea asked.

"That is an understatement," Jia Li replied solemnly. While Elisa was the pride of her life, it was difficult discussing her with outsiders, especially if it might prejudice them against the future ruler. Since she was born immediately after the Civil War, she grew up in its wake and her youngest memories were of her mother's horrified face when she received the news of the Apostates turning violent. Elisa had come to believe that a lack of respect and tradition had undermined the Empress and was convinced she needed to bring it back. At first, Jia Li had been touched, perhaps even a bit nostalgic, when her daughter had begun to diligently study the bible, being reminded of her sister, but Elisa had also begun to show signs of becoming a zealot as well as being pretentious. She and Xel hoped she would grow out of this stage, but she was stubborn like her parents and observant; she would not listen to her atheist father's counsel.

"I suppose it is the influence of her education and she may grow out of it."

"Perhaps it would do her some good to go out and at least see ozer cultures besides just Demonessian and Fenwicki," Gavrila said, "Try and show her zat zere are ozer ways of doing zings besides ze way Demonessians do it, or some shit like zat."

Gavril gave his cousin an exasperated look, what she said made sense but it seemed like she had cursed just for the sake of cursing. Then he looked to the Empress, "I suppose my cousin does have a point, but I understand it could be difficult to do that while avoiding appearing as zough you are showing favouritism to certain nations." The Voivode didn't really have anything else to add, being unmarried and without children he had no idea what it was like raising a child.

"You can teach your children to be a certain way all you want, but zey are still zeir own people and despite your best efforts may not end up ze way you wish," Andreea said, "But I hope for ze best."

"Kie is an angel," Jia Li replied and sighed. "But both children are currently in Fenwick as part of the Accord, so I am hoping that the Davions have a positive influence on her." She laughed. "It'll also do her some good to be some place where she isn't the center of the world."

"Yeah, being the center of attention all ze time is probably not ze best zing for a little kid," Gavrila said, "Over-inflated ego and whatnot. My brozer was a bit like zat, zough he was also a little Momma's boy."

"I am not familiar wiz ze specifics of ze Accord," Gavril said curiously, "How long do ze children stay in Fenwick?"

"Specifically, the Accord only mandates that one child spends three years in the country. However, that period is drawing to a close and we may extend it." The Apostate situation had cooled and many of the leaders had been apprehended, but not all security concerns had been satisfactorily corrected. The truce with Vulareishiite was still untested and the Apostates had splintered into more dangerous groups - which thankfully were incapable of planning the large scale attacks the Apostates had. The twins had been sent there for safekeeping and for the first year their location had been completely concealed; during the second year it was revealed that they were in Fenwick to fulfill Demoness' part of the Accord.

"It would have worked better if there had been children their age, but Ned is still unfortunately a bachelor," she continued, channeling to topic away from the purpose of their visit. Most exchanges didn't take place until the children were at least thirteen - sometimes older, as it had been in the case with Ned - and Hikari had waited until her thirteenth year before she visited Fenwick. "It should be interesting when he finally has a child though."

"Ha, maybe you can introduce me to him," Gavrila said jokingly, "I am looking for a nice man after all. And I have seen pictures of him and I have to say, he is definitely an attractive man. And hey, a Cetatsen Knezinja would be a nice catch."

Gavril just rolled his eyes and laughed. "What? You do not want a nice Cetatsen boy?" he teased.

"I just want a good man, I could not care less where he comes from," Gavrila responded with a laugh.

Jia Li giggled. "I believe he is seeing someone right now, but he has a rather bad track record of choosing women who are willing to marry him, so if it doesn't work out between them, I'll drop your name."

Xel shook his head, opened his mouth to say something, and then stopped himself. Reflecting on it, Ned might actually enjoy Gavrila's company. They had fairly similar personalities and Gavrila reminded him of one of Ned's ex-girlfriends - except she wasn't a workaholic and seemed to have a more lighthearted personality. Regardless, he didn't think they should try to play matchmaker for Ned because it never worked out well for him... On the other hand, Ned had secretly dated Xel's sister for several months before working up the courage to tell him, so he deserved what he got.

Gavrila grinned and laughed, "Awesome, I would appreciate it. After all, I was only half-joking."

"Well zen, all zis talk of Ned Davion makes me wonder, what exactly is he like?" Gavril said, "I have never actually met ze man, and you are friends wiz him, correct? So you would know; if you would not mind sharing, zat is." Besides the fact that he was legitimately interested in what the Fenwicki heir was like, he'd like to know what kind of man he was on the off chance that he did start seeing his cousin. Especially since Gavrila was practically his sister.

Jia Li's grin widened; she actually considered him her best friend, but sometimes knowing someone long enough made it hard to describe that person and she'd be just as hard-pressed to describe Xel, Makoto, or any one of her friends since she had so much background with all of them.

"Well... He's got a good sense of humor and is an avid fan of science fiction. We used to spend hours talking about it when we were younger," Jia Li replied. "He's a pararescue in the air force, but I can't recall offhand what rank he's earned. He's very down to earth and a bit of a workaholic. Ano... What else would you like to know?"
