If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

"I would like zat very much," Gavril said, "And I zank you for it, I was not entirely certain how to go about it to be honest." He didn't think sending a message to the Emperor saying 'Hello, I'd like to establish diplomatic relations' out of the blue would work. But if it was facilitated by Jia Li and Demoness that could speed things along, and Jia Li could possibly put in a good word for him.

Gavrila sighed, "Why does everyone have to be such a prude?"

Jia Li chuckled in spite of herself, but she still answered Gavril. "However, I should warn you that they're more isolationist than we are, so I'm not very sure how interested they would be. Demoness tends to drag Fenwick along in international matters."

"Then perhaps we should wait to see if Gavrila and Ned do end up togezer," Gavril said, "If zeir son is dating my cousin zat may provide a reason to at least meet. Maybe."

Gavrila gave Gavril a dirty look, to which Gavril quickly responded, "Ze political advantages would only be a secondary effect of your relationship; I would never want you in a relationship just for my own political gain."

"Fine zen," Gavrila said after a moment's deliberation, "I suppose it is fine..."

Jia Li shook her head. "I have a feeling Ned would not enjoy a marriage for its political gains either, so you don't have to worry about that, Gavrila," she assured her. Secretly, she was amused that Gavrila liked to tease, but she didn't seem to do well when she was on the receiving end.

"Well zat is good," Gavrila said, her previous demeanour returning, "My last marriage was done for political reasons, and I cannot stand ze zought of just being a fucking pawn in ze game of politics."

"Yes, but eizer way I do stick by what I said," Gavril said, "Since zey are isolationist, I zink it would be best for ze topic to be brought up only if zere is a reason for zem to actually want to meet wiz me. And you know zem better zan I do Jia Li, so I trust your judgement on zis matter."

Jia Li nodded in appreciation. "You are aware of our close relationship, so it would make sense for you to at least meet with the leader of our ally so that you know who you may be dealing with," she replied. "He's a very serious man and hard to read, but he's very nice once you get to know him."

Gavril thought for a moment, "Hmmm, yes, I do I suppose zat makes sense; if we are building relations wiz you it only makes sense to wish to meet wiz ze leader of ze nation who is such a close ally. And zat short description sounds a bit like my fazer; he was a very stern and serious man, but he was a good and kind person at heart."

And even though he left it unsaid, both Gavrila and Andreea knew that he wished to add 'even if his priorities were a bit skewed' to the end of his sentence. But he didn't as it was not the time for things like that.

"I zink I would like to meet him too," Gavrila said.

"I do not zink zat is wise unless it is necessary," Gavril responded.

"I just said I would like to meet him, not zat I expected you to take me along," Gavrila said, sticking her tongue out at her cousin.

"If she dates Ned, she'll have to meet him eventually," Jia Li teased. She paused. "Actually, from what Ned says, his father is a bit of a workaholic, so maybe that explains his dating preferences. He's used to it."

"I do not see it," Gavril said with a shrug, "My fazer was a workaholic, and it does not make me want to date a workaholic any more. If anyzing it makes me want to date zem less. And I know zat Gavrila would need to meet zem if she dates zeir son; zat falls under ze umbrella of 'unless it is necessary'."

"He is not ze kind of person who would try and pressure me into introducing him to my parents if I explain zat I have a horrible relationship wiz zem, is he?" Gavrila asked curiously.

Jia Li shook her head vigorously as her eyes opened wide. "Goddess, no!" she exclaimed. "He knows better than to try to fix a relationship by force."

"It sometimes works," Xel interjected.

"Once is not sometimes," she retorted and scowled. There were plenty of parental issues on the Plateau - Jia Li with her father, Yuri with her mother, and Xel with his mother - and all were various levels of complicated, but to her knowledge, "force" had only successfully been applied toward Ashuril when it was believed Jia Li was dying; all efforts to force Yukiko to reconcile with her daughter sadly exacerbated the problem and it was difficult to tell if Ariana's relationship with her son had changed at all.
