If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

Gavril nodded, silently thankful for the change of subject. Andreea and Gavrila were as well, but Gavrila's mind still dwelt on the topic, despite Aurel telling her not to worry. "Well, zere are many zings to see in ze city," Gavril said, thinking about what might interest the Empress and her party, "Zere are museums, monuments, zereis ze park. Hmm, ce altceva este acolo..." The last sentence was more to himself as he thought more on the subject.

"Ze Castel de Nebunie," Gavrila said, a massive smile spreading across her face, "Ze Castle of Madness."

Gavril slowly turned towards his cousin, giving a bit of an apprehensive look. "Eh, I suppose zat would be an interesting place to visit," he said slowly, "But I do not zink it would be if ze Empress was to get lost in zere."

"Oh please, it has been mapped out," Gavrila responded, "And it is really fucking cool! Even if you guys do not go, I am going to go look at it wizout you."

Jia Li tilted her head curiously. "'The Castle of Madness'?" she asked. Though the combination of the name and the mention of her possibly getting lost made her wish she'd brought her chitaels along. While she had faith in her guards and servants to resolve any issues, Nemesis and Aphrodite were more to comfort her than anything; after all, who would be scared when accompanied by several hundred pounds of loyal, toothy balls of fur?

"Ze Castle of Madness was a sort of 'palace' built at the desire of Voivode Carol ze Mad. It was also designed by him," Gavril explained, "It is a razer confusing and interesting building; zere are dead ends, stairways and doors to nowhere, rooms built sideways, and such zings."

"It is also really freaking huge," Gavrila said excitedly, "It doesn't look zat big, but Carol had it built atop a system of caverns, and zey are part of ze building."

"I zink my brozer was simply joking about getting lost," Andreea added, "Ze building is fully mapped, and tour guides are required to memorize ze layout, and in addition are required to carry maps. Ze only actual dangers are roped off and entry to ze areas around zem is forbidden."

Jia Li smiled. "The sideways rooms sound interesting," she replied. She was reassured about the building's layout, though she did in fact miss her chitaels and the reassurance did nothing to ease that. "It sounds rather like something I saw in a game once. I wondered what it would look like if I saw it in real life." She giggled.

Gavrila laughed as well. "Oh, trust me on zis, I may not have been zere in over a decade but I definitely remember zat it does look like somezing out of a book or movie," she said, "And it is not just sideways, I believe zere is one zat is completely upside down."

Andreea nodded, "Yes, there is. And it comes right after a hallway zat twists 180 degrees. By ze end of it, you are stand on what used to be ze ceiling."

"It is a very unique and interesting place, to say ze least," Gavril said, "Zough I zink ze most interesting part about it is zat Carol ze Mad actually lived zere for weeks at a time, and he himself designed it. He may have been insane and delusional, but he was quite intelligent and had an impressive memory."

"That is so very strange. I can't imagine what life must have been like for him," she replied. "And it must have felt quite mad to build the castle for him."

"Hell, nobody can imagine what life was like for him. Ze guy was completely and utterly insane," Gavrila said.

Gavril nodded in assent, "Not even his wife, ze person closest to him, could completely understand ze man. And as for zose building it, I am certain zey did zink it razer strange. But zey were paid well, so I do not zink ze minded too much."

"It was not a secret zat Carol ended up insane, ze people knew of it. However, his wife was quite a competent ruler. So much so zat some people have actually debated having a smaller portrait of her hung up next to her husband's in ze Great Hall," Andreea added.

"I take it that would be against tradition," Jia Li said.

Gavril nodded, "Yes, ze portraits in ze Great Hall are only of ze Voivodes zemselves. Whezer it was zem ruling or not is not important."

"Eh, it makes sense she does not get a portrait," Gavrila said with a shrug, "Yeah, she was ze actual ruling power. But was she ever crowned Voivode? Was she a part of House Suveraneshti? Nope."

"You could placate the movement by hanging a portrait of her elsewhere, along with others who have been influential in Cetatsenia or the government," Jia Li suggested.
