If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. Horea still frowned at the Empress's comment. Horea believed that cooking wasn't something that should be a hobby; it was something that if you did it you had to love it and take it seriously, not just do it when you're bored. However, he was smart enough to say something that may insult the Empress or someone she knew, and so kept quiet. The Gavril stood, "Anyway, now zat we have eaten what say we move to ze study so zat ze Great Hall can be prepared for ze servants' dinner. I am sure zey are hungry." |

OOC: Poor Alexis. Horea doesn't think she should cook. :-p She doesn't have time for it, but she's good at making sauces, which apparently isn't a kitchen position as I thought. IC: Jia Li nodded. "Of course. Lead the way." At home, Jia Li ate in her apartments when she wasn't hosting guests and servants had the option to eat in the basement cafeteria or in their own apartments; she thought the arrangement was strange, but not all palaces were as large as hers was either. The Demonessian embassy in Fenwick couldn't even fit in the palace itself; it had to be hosted on the grounds whereas the Fenwicki ambassador had a large set of apartments set aside for him and his staff. |

Gavril nodded, smiling, "All right zen, let us go." Then he turned to Chef Horea, "And zank you for ze wonderful meal, I look forward to tomorrow's breakfast." This comment made Horea smile once more, obviously enjoying the praise, "I will do my best, my Voivode." So Gavril lead the group to his study once more, leaving Horea and Marina behind in the Great Hall. Once they arrived Gavril and Andreea stood beside their chairs while Gavrila simply sat down on Gavril's desk. Gavril motioned for the Demonessian couple to take a seat, they were his guests after all. He'd be a bit irritated at Gavrila sitting down before them if it wasn't the fact that he was used to her antics and that she was technically a guest as well. |

Jia Li didn't mind the lapse in protocol; after all, Demonessians had learned to excuse a certain level of "rudeness" when interacting with foreigners since they never seemed to be as civilized as Demonessians. Jia Li took a seat, followed by Xel and, if a seat were available, Ariana; Marcus remained standing. Jia Li crossed her legged and then clasped her hands. "I hope you don't believe I am being too forward, but since we are both leaders of our respective nations it is appropriate to discuss our diplomatic relations. We really only have a non-aggression pact, which seems to be a shame considering we fought on the same side of the war, but that relationship didn't grow." |

Gavril nodded in agreement, "Yes, it is a shame. I zink zat building relations wiz Cetatsenia's former enemies took precedence over building relations wiz a country on anozer continent." Then Gavril chuckled to himself. "And you do not need to worry about being too forward. After all, look who I am used to dealing wiz," he said, gesturing to Gavrila, who grinned in response. |

Jia Li laughed. Typically, business was brought up only in certain settings and after an appropriate amount of time had passed; while that was true here, she'd never stated she wanted to discuss business prior to bringing it up and seemingly out of the blue. "That's understandable and directly after the war my country was quite interested in getting a return in its 'investment', so diplomacy seemingly fell by the wayside," she continued. "Do you believe your nation would benefit from a free trade agreement?" |

Gavril smiled and nodded his head, he'd expected this topic to come up at some point and so was prepared for it. After all, they were both their nation's leaders and they were meeting, so it only made sense that diplomacy would come up at some point. "Yes, I personally believe free-trade agreements are usually for ze best," Gavril said. "You know Decebal is not going to be happy when he finds out you were discussing zis kind of stuff wizout him," Gavrila said, then grinned, "So make sure I am zere when you tell him." "Cancellar Negrescu does not need to be present for everyzing diplomatic," Andreea said, "And he will undoubtedly be present when anyzing official is signed." Gavrila shrugged, "I still want to be zere." Edited by Cetatsenia, Jan 16 2014, 01:03 AM.

Jia Li nodded. "And I will have to have my advisers hammer out the exact details of anything official as well, but I know my Adoni Commerce will be delighted." |

"Decebal is an inflexible stick in ze mud," Gavrila said, than chuckled "Ha, I can imagine the look on his face now." "Yes, my Cancellar, essentially ze equivalent of a Minster of Foreign Affairs, has a tendency to not like any kind of discussion about zese topics to go on wizout him," Gavril said, "But he will get over it, and he'll be happy in ze end. He agrees wiz me zat we need to foster relations wiz ozer countries." |

Jia Li laughed. "Then perhaps he can delight in coming up with the exact details since I am not well-versed in them at all. 'Free Trade' is sufficient for me, though of course we restrict the importation of certain items, but that is rather standard." She looked at Xel. "There is also the matter of military exercises. We have a few different terrains in which we can practice, but it would be nice to expand that repertoire." |
