If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. "I have been busy, and I have just not met any women I would like to go out wiz," Gavril said. "Because you never go out wiz any of zem," Gavrila teased. Gavril just rolled his eyes, while Andreea added, "She does have a point you know. If you would get to know more women, zen you may find one you like." "I have my reasons," Gavril said, a bit defensively. "Not very good ones," Gavrila said, continuing to tease her cousin. Gavril didn't even bother to answer. ------ Marina frowned a little as Ariana just ignored her and continued eating. Marina thought for a few moments about what she could say to try and strike up a conversation, since everything she'd tried so far had failed. "So, what do you zink of ze Palatul Regal?" she asked finally, "It is pretty impressive, is it not?" |

Jia Li shook his head. "Leave him alone. I'm sure it's difficult for him as well. You never know if someone is interested in you or your position." She looked at Gavril. "Is that right?" --- Ariana nodded again politely. If Marina had been an amontsu, or even a member of security (had she been in a better mood), she would have shared insights about the security of the palace and holes she'd noticed. However, that would contravene her guise as a simple servant. |

Gavrila rolled her eyes, "Oh I am just messing around wiz him. And he knows it." "Yeah, yeah, yeah," Gavril said, a small smile on his face as he shook his head before looking back to Jia Li, "And yes, zat is unfortunately true. I want to marry a woman who wishes to be my wife, not one who wishes to be ze Voivode's wife." ------ "You only answered half of my question," Marina said, a smile on her face, "I asked what you zought of it, not just if you zought it was impressive." Ariana may be intent on not partaking in a conversation with the young woman, but Marina was just as intent on talking to her. Edited by Cetatsenia, Jan 23 2014, 11:47 PM.

Jia Li smirked. "You could always try a dating service. I hear online sites are wonderful these days." Xel shook his head. "You cannot give any dating advice. You've never dated a single person and the closest you've gotten is having a crush." Her smile widened. "You are never going to let that go, ne?" She reached out and gently tickled his side. --- "Its architecture is interesting. Over the years, I have been to palaces of various sizes and it is what I would have expected from the history I have learned." |

"Wow Jia Li, even my cousin has had more dates zan you," Gavrila laughed, "I would make fun of you if it was not for ze fact zat you are happily married." Gavrila just shook his head and smiled at his cousin's words, before turning his attention back to Jia Li's suggestion. "I do not know about dating someone online," Gavril said, "I may be old fashioned in zis, but I kind of want to meet someone in real life." ------ "Yeah, it was originally built as a fortress and as a symbol of Ioan I's power," Marina said, "I personally zink it is impressive zat it is still being used, considering how old it is." |

"But they are someone in real life," Jia Li said sincerely. "A lot of close friends growing up were online. It's one of the few places where I didn't feel pressured and I acted like myself." She shook her head. "We've grown distant, but I'm still friends with one or two of them. Just because you don't meet them traditionally does not mean you can't have a meaningful relationship and it's a good foundation for if you do meet." --- "The structure is still sound, so there's no reason not to use it." |

"I realize zat, and I know zat I could have a meaningful relationship wiz zem. I do not know, I guess I just kind of imagined zings going differently," Gavril said, "Perhaps I will have to give it a try." "And you do not necessarily have to reveal zat you are Voivode," Andreea added, "So you will not have people zat just want to be wiz you because of your position." "Be a hell of a shock for ze girl when she finds out zough!" Gavrila added, laughing almost uncontrollably. ------ "I mean more along ze lines zat zey were able to update it wiz lights and water and stuff like zat," Marina said, extremely happy that Ariana had responded, "Zough it probably helped zat it was updated over ze years. It is actually ze oldest inhabited palace in Cetatsenia; all ze Knezates have had new palaces built at some point since Cetatsenia's founding." |

Jia Li laughed. "That's true! And you'll know from her reaction when you tell her if she's the one." --- "That makes sense," Ariana replied. |

"I suppose I can give it a try," Gavril said with a shrug, still a little uncertain,"Maybe." Then Gavrila and Andreea exchanged a glance at each other, with Gavrila grinning wide and Andreea smiling a little. "Do not worry, we will make sure he does," Andreea said. To that Gavril chuckled, "Well, it seems I have been backed into a corner here." ------ "So, how old is ze palace in Demoness?" Marina asked, intent on keeping the conversation going and worried by Ariana's short response, "I have seen pictures of it, and it looks quite beautiful." |

"It's not so bad of a corner. It gets you out there to meet someone," Jia Li replied. --- "According to our history, it is fifty-five centuries old," Ariana replied. |
