If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people.

Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river.

Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets.

While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then.

The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city.

At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down.

Andreea smiled a bit at the memory of her actually meeting her husband. "We met in an 'Introduction to Philosophy' class. I had ze class right before lunch, and we just sort of walked up togezer one day and started talking."

------

"Yeah, zat sounds just like Aurel and ze Knezinja," Marina said with a smile, "How did you come to serve ze Empress?"

Jia Li laughed. "That's cute. How did he react when he figured out who you were?"

---

"I served under her grandmother and when she was born, I was her wet nurse."

Andreea smiled once more, "He did not care actually. It did not matter to him zat I was ze Voivode's sister."

"Yeah, Emilian is a very nice man," Gavril said, then he turned to his sister, "Where is he anyway?"

"Oh, he took ze girls to go visit zeir Grandmozer," Andreea replied.

------

"Oh, so you have known her all her life," Marina said, then tilted her head and smiled, "Zat is quite nice."

Jia Li smiled. "That is sweet," she said thinking of her children. The twins, Elisa and Kieran, were still safely hiding in Fenwick. They'd originally gone to hide from a possible Apostate attack, but as time went by they stayed as part of the commitment to the Accord of Orendh. She visited them often and thankfully, they would return home permanently soon. "How many children do you have? How old are they?"

---

"Yes, I have known her her entire life," Ariana mused. For a split second, she appeared sad; she'd thought of Jia Li and Hikari as her daughters, more so than her biological children, but she'd had to choose between them. Sometimes, she regretted that she'd made the choice at all.

"Zey are 9 and 12," Andreea said, "So zey are not too old."

"I zought it was fucking weird having a niece when I was only 14," Gavrila said, grinning.

Gavril smiled too, "I admit it was a little interesting, but it was not exactly 'weird'."

------

Marina noticed the split second of sadness, but even she knew enough not to pry into it. And at this point Marina was entirely at a loss for words, not entirely sure what to say and where to steer the conversation.

Jia Li smiled. "I didn't realize there was that much of an age gap between the two of you," she said. "My oldest are turning 11 this year and my youngest will be four. I have to say I envy the gap between your children. I don't think I was really equipped to have an infant again after so long." She chuckled.

For a moment, Xel scowled and placed his hand over her arm. It had been partially his fault; he had assumed that after the trial of the first birth, she wouldn't be able to conceive again ever and unfortunately had been proven wrong. Despite her wishes, she should have no further children either.

---

Ariana nodded. "What about the dishes?" she asked. In the Palace, there was a central collection point, but she might as well ask here.

Andreea smiled, "But you do have to admit zat it was worz it, right? Children may be hard work, but if zere is anyzing in zis world zat is worz ze work and sacrifices you make for it, it is your children."

Gavril just smiled at his sister, happy that she'd found something personal to talk about with their guests. Gavrila grinned as well, but added her own input to the conversation. "I really want to have kids," she said, a broad smile still plastered across her face, "But I have to find a man for zat first."

------

"Oh, ze dishes? Zey go over zere," Marina said, gesturing over to an open space in the wall on the left side of the wall closest to the thrones. Servants with dirty dishes were going over to it, and simply setting their plates down on a counter and dropping their silverware into a long bucket filled with water. Normally the opening was closed off, painted to match the brick around it, so none of the Demonessians had probably noticed it beforehand. "Are you done already?" Marina asked, obviously a bit disappointed by the fact.

Jia Li nodded. "It is so interesting to watch their little personalities form and figure out what they got from you or your spouse... Or neither. I don't know where my son got his curiosity of the sciences." She grinned and then turned to Gavrila. "Don't worry. I'm sure you'll find someone."

---

Ariana nodded as she rose and started toward the wall.

Andreea chuckled a bit at Jia Li's response. "Yes, yes it is; I know exactly what you mean," she said with a smile, "Our older one seems to be quite interested in art, despite neizer me or my husband being so inclined. But she absolutely adores her Uncle Vlad, so it is no mystery where she gets it from."

Gavrila grinned as she spoke, "Oh I know I will, and I cannot wait. Not only because I want a husband, but so my Aunt will stop pestering me about getting married."

"Oh, you cannot complain," Gavril said, shaking his head and laughing, "She gets on my case more zan she does yours."

------

"Goodbye! It was a pleasure meeting you!" Marina called out after Ariana before going back to eating her food. She was a bit unhappy that she hadn't really gotten much of a conversation going, but the Demonessians weren't just staying for the day, so she just supposed she'd have to try again.

Jia Li laughed. "She worries about you, which is a good thing. At least that's what I've been told 'nagging' means." She glanced at Xel for a moment before hugging him and he shook his head.

---

Ariana said a curt goodbye before setting her dishes in the proper place and rejoining the party.
