If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. "Zen let her," Gavrila said, a hint of anger creeping into her voice. "Gavrila, zis is none of our business and you don't know everyzing," Gavril said calmly, attempting to diffuse the situation, "Let it go. Vă rog." This was exactly the kind of situation he feared would happen if Gavrila stayed; she always spoke her mind, regardless of whether she knew the background of the situation. "No," she snarled, obviously angry by this point, "I can't stand men who zink zey are allowed to make decisions for zeir wives." Edited by Cetatsenia, Dec 1 2013, 11:02 PM.

Xel frowned, obviously confused at this point by the way the conversation had turned. He exchanged looks with his wife, who was equally confused, and he said something to her in their language. She replied with a shrug and answered his apparent question. She smiled softly at Gavrila. "I think there has been a misunderstanding," she said. |

Gavrila turned to Jia Li, her angry look turning into confusion rather quickly. "Um, ce?" she said, "If zere was an issue wiz allergies or whatnot, zen why didn't you say so yourself? And why didn't you respond to what he said? Even if it was true?" Gavrila was honestly perplexed, when her ex-husband had answered questions for her or tried to make decisions for her she always said something to him about it right then and there, even if he'd said what she would have anyway. Gavril and Andreea on the other hand were quite obviously relieved, with Jia Li explaining things the issue would most likely resolve itself. And make the ever impetuous Gavrila think and ask questions before she had such outbursts in the future with them. Hopefully. |

She smiled is a subtle way that said "I told you so" to her husband, and then replied, "He tends to be overzealous about my health due to complications I had in the past. I didn't say anything because it is an ongoing argument that doesn't need to be repeated." Xel again added something in Morante, to which she replied with another frown, though there was something teasing about this one. She returned her attention to Gavrila, patiently adding, "Chitaels seem to be the only animal that I'm not even partially allergic too, so it's not wrong to assume that I might be allergic to Behemoth's dander or scratches or something." |

Gavrila looked down sheepishly, avoiding the eyes of both Jia Li and Gavril. "Oh, zat makes sense I suppose, as long as it's because he cares about you," she said, "It just reminded me of my ex, naibii curvă." Then she looked at Gavril. "Îmi, uh, îmi pare rău pentru țipat la tine așa," she said, simply apologizing to him for yelling. Gavril just shook his head and smiled, putting his arm around her shoulder. "E în regulă, nici un rău făcut," he said to her, "Te rog, cred că înainte de a te duci ca asta din nou." And with that Gavrila smiled and laughed, and assumed her previous demeanor. "Nici o problemă, văr," she said. The two hadn't said anything overly important; Gavril simply accepted her apology and asked her to be careful about having such outbursts in the future, and Gavrila agreed. However, Andreea looked away frustrated. She'd always thought that Gavril gave his cousin too much leeway and let her get away with far too much. With his position as Voivode he could easily have ordered her to leave as soon as she arrived, and situations such as this would have been avoided. Granted, it worked out fine this time, but there was always the possibility of Gavrila doing something like this again, and it not ending so well. Edited by Cetatsenia, Dec 2 2013, 12:03 AM.

The Imperial couples' previous dialog had been much the same: first an exchange of confusion and a suggestion that Xel had committed some kind of faux pas. He had then added that she never be careful enough about her health and she'd retorted he cared too much. There of course was a lot of subtext as well; the two had known each other their whole lives, even sharing a crib, and knew much of each other's body language and arguments without actually exchanging words; this saved a lot of time, of course. "Ano nee... Now that that's been sorted out, perhaps we can continue the conversation," Jia Li suggested. She held Xel's hand this time, stroking the back of it absently. "Are your wild ones as large?" |

"Ah, of course," Gavril said, "As for ze wild ones, ze can can get about as large as ze pets. However, ze tend to be smaller, since zey don't necessarily have a steady source of food." "Still dangerous zough, even if zey do usually just run away from people," Gavrila chimed in, "But if you corner one it can get nasty. As you can see, zey have giant teeth." Almost as if to punctuate this, Behemoth decided to let out a yawn, opening his mouth wide and showing his long yellow incisors. Gavrila took the opportunity to point to the rat's head as he did so, "See?" Gavril rolled his eyes, "Gavrila, stop that. You'll give zem ze impression zat zere are roving bands of wild rats in ze streets of our city." Then he looked to Jia Li and her husband, "While my cousin is right, wild ones are extremely rare inside cities, and zose zat zere are tend to stick to ze sewers." |

Jia Li wrinkled her nose. "I heard once - or maybe it was in a movie - that rats can chew through anything, even metal, when they feel threatened. Is that true?" |

Gavril simply looked down in thought for a moment before shrugging, "I don't really know." "If ze metal is zin enough, I'm certain zey would make it zrough eventually," Gavrila added, "And ze great rats have even longer teez zan a normal rat." Gavril just shrugged again, "I guess zat makes some sense." |

If one was familiar with Xel's body language, he was laughing at his wife; however, outwardly he only exchanged a teasing look with her. She laughed. "I'm sorry. It's something I've always been curious about and it actually puts me a little more at ease," she replied. "It just came to mind when you mentioned cornering one." She shrugged, and then smiled again. "Are there any other surprises I should watch out for when we tour the city later on?" |
