If one was to take a place from the nation of Demoness to Cetatsenia, one would most likely see the dichotomy that the nation was rather known for. In the southern parts of the nation one would notice the highlands, heavily forested and almost untouched by man aside from the winding roads and the occasional town. But further north, the terrain would give away to the lowlands of the Centric Basin. This land was flat, and lacked the expansive forests, though there were smaller isolated forests. But the main difference one would notice would be the level of development, it was dominated by a large amount of farmland as the lowland soil was incredibly fertile, but there was also the occasional city, bustling with people. Albraustana-zid was one such city, and it was the primate city of Cetatsenia, the richest and most populous and most important of them all. It was built along both sides of the great Albastru River that ran through much of Cetatsenia, though most of it was on the southern bank of the river. This was because of the simple fact that Albraustana-zid had begun life as three separate forts and settlements built along the river. Albrau and Stana had been built on the Southern bank, and over time had grown together until they were finally united into Albraustana. And while Zid would eventually become part of the greater whole, for a long time it was simply considered a city separated from the capital only by the river. Since it had grown organically over the numerous years, and had once been three separate cities, the streets and roads had a habit of being winding and could be complicated to navigate for those unfamiliar with them who had no map. Though the roads had over time been widened and revamped in order to accommodate cars, and the newest sections of the city on the outskirts actually had a gridded street plan. As it was the middle of the day, the streets were currently filled with cars and buses, and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians, while the newest addition to the city's transportation network, the subway system, ran below the streets. While there was a number of attractions in the city, such as the museums and baths, one of the most prominent is the Palatul Regal, the Royal Palace. The site of the original settlement of Albrau and lying atop a hill, it has been torn down or otherwise destroyed and then subsequently rebuilt several times throughout history. The most recent being the ascension of Ioan I to the throne of Cetatsenia, though it has been renovated and updated since then. The Palace itself is surrounded by a wall that rings the entirety of the hill, with only a single gate leading up to it. The wall is patrolled by a special corps of Cetatsenian soldiers, easily identified by their bright blue ceremonial uniforms and ornate, pointed helmets. After that, a road lead up to the palace proper, an expansive building with a stone exterior that shared more in common with a medieval castle than what one thinks of when they hear the word 'palace'. It was home to a fair number of servants, as well as the guardsmen, and a small number of government officials. Most of those lived out in the city, and worked in their own buildings. It was absolutely huge, and in front of it was an expansive pool of water. Overall, it was an impressive sight that could be seen from a good portion of the city. At the moment, however, Voivode Gavril IV Suveraneshti was not at his home in the palace. Rather he was at the airport, which had been cleared of any citizens besides him, the guards arrayed with him, and those who worked there; all flights to this airport had either been delayed or rerouted to other nearby airports. Today was an important day, as this was the decided upon day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. As two nations whose relationship could be accurately described as "mutually neutral", this was a rather important meeting, and Gavril did not want to mess anything up. So he stood alongside his older sister Andreea, the Steward of Cetatsenia, in the airport, ready to head out onto the tarmac to greet the Empress as soon as her plane set down. Gavril thought for a moment before replying, "Well, it is really one of zose zings you have to see for yourself. I could tell you all about it, but it is much better to see it in person." "It is a palace built by a madman," Andreea said, "Zat is ze best way to put it." It was then that Marina arrived with the drinks; tea for the two Demonessians and Andreea, dark coffee for Gavril and Aurel, and apple juice for Gavrila. "If you want, I can talk about it in ze car," Gavril said, "But for now, I zink we should eat." Gavril gestured to the table full of food, containing Demonessian food alongside Cetatsenian foods such as bread, feta cheese, minced sausage, and eggs. "It is like dinner last night, just get what you want to eat," Andreea added. |

Jia Li nodded. "I think I recall something about that," she said, but she agreed that it was time to eat. She tried many of the Cetatsen dishes, especially the cheese and eggs. As with last night, they were conservative in their portions, but they appeared to enjoy the meal. |

The Cetatsens ate as well, this time not eating much more than the Demonessians did. After all, breakfast was usually the smallest meal of the day. The exception to this was Gavrila, who ate almost as much as she had the night before. Once they were finished, Gavril looked the Empress and smiled. "Well, you seem to have enjoyed ze meal," he said, "So, let us be off. Ze Castel de Nebunie is about an hour outside of ze city, so I would prefer us to leave as soon as possible. I apologize if I am rushing you." |

Jia Li shook her head. "No. As I said, we should have discussed the time to meet last night, but it slipped my mind." She did yawn, quickly covering her mouth, so it was apparent she did get less sleep than she was used to. Xel wrapped his arm around her waist as she rose and chuckled slightly to himself; he knew this would happen and he assumed she'd probably fall asleep during the trip, even though she'd endeavor not to. "It'll just be the three of us today," he said. "Nedia-shiro has some other issues to attend to, so we are ready when you are." |

"Great, let us get going," Gavril said as he stood up, followed by everyone else. "All right, let us get going!" Gavrila said excitedly, "I want to get zere as soon as possible." Gavril just smiled and shook his head, then turned to one of the doors, "Lieutenant, it is time to go." Lieutenant Adrian Dalca, the man who had been in charge of the guard detail during yesterday's outing made his way over to the Voivode. "Zis is Lieutenant Adrian Dalca," the Voivode said, "Unfortunately ze sort of unobtrusive security I prefer is not really feasible in ze Castel de Nebunie due to ze building's design. So Adrian will be accompanying me as a personal bodyguard." "It is a pleasure to meet you boz," Lieutenant Dalca replied, with a respectful nod to the Empress and her husband. |

Jia Li smiled. "Pleased to meet you, Lord Lieutenant," she replied, utilizing Morante's formalities. She turned to Xel. "Ariana is not going to be happy if she finds out about security arrangements. Are you sure she cannot come too?" Xel shook his head. "Unfortunately, no," he said firmly. She shrugged and then turned back to Adrian. "No offense intended, of course, but my handmaid is sometimes overzealous when it comes to my safety. I'm sure that you do a wonderful job if Gavril puts his faith in you." She nodded back to Makoto. "I believe you met Kanzaka-shiro yesterday. He will be the only one accompanying us." |

Dalca looked at Makoto and gave a respectful nod before turning back to Jia Li, "It is understandable, you are in a foreign country after all. And I zank you for ze praise." "And if it makes you feel better you also got zese two wiz guns," Gavrila said, gesturing to both Gavril and Aurel. Gavril shrugged, "My cousin does have a point, but anyway, let us be going." And with that he began to make his way out to the waiting car, the same black car as the day before, with everyone else in tow. However, Aurel sped up a bit before the group reached the car, and opened the door for everyone. Once more Gavril allowed the Demonessians in first with him and his relatives following right behind them. Aurel then sat in the car next to Gavrila, with Lieutenant Dalca taking his seat up front in the passenger's seat. "Zis is gonna be fucking great," Gavrila said with obvious excitement as the car began its journey down away from the palace. |

Jia Li smiled with appreciation, even if they had missed the point; Ariana didn't trust anyone with her safety, save for four people: Xel, Alexis, Makoto, and Marcus. She barely trusted her second Chihiro and that was out of necessity. Jia Li didn't know all these details, but she strongly suspected them. The Demonessians entered the car again, sitting opposite the Cetatsenians. Jia Li suppressed another yawn, trying not to seem rude, but even if she'd slept well, she'd stayed up late with Gavrila and hadn't immediately gone to bed either. She still had a bit of an internet addiction, even if it wasn't as bad as it had been in her youth, and it was sometimes impossible to get her to stop once she'd started. She smiled and looked outside the window, but she'd ended up sandwiched between her two escorts. Xel's mind was still on Ariana's behavior the previous day. He knew he could control her, at least temporarily, but the last thing he wanted was an incident in Cetatsenia. He was also completely clueless as to how a ninety-year-old woman managed to curb his mother's aggressive behavior; it couldn't be a simple trick, but any pointers would have been appreciated. Instead, Adiwyn kept her secrets. |

"Anyway, is zere any particular reason why Nedia is unable to join us for zis trip?" Gavril asked, attempting to make conversation. "Yeah, she seemed pretty bent on sticking next to you last night," Gavrila said, "What happened?" |

Xel shook his head. "There was just an issue that suddenly came up at home. It's not severe enough that she has to return, but it will preoccupy her for at least the day," he explained. He had been impressed by the other handmaid's lie, but he didn't know how long the charade would last. |
