After seeing how Aisinbira's Q&A has helped me flesh it out significantly, I thought I'd give Guaranda it's own since I haven't done much with it. So as the description says help me flesh it out by asking questions. |

Did Guaranda used to be a large rubber exporter? Were plantations historically prevalent? What percentage of the population do native peoples make up? How much voice do they have in government? Which is the largest native group? Is racism prevalent? Was it historically? Were there any forms of legal segregation? When did Guaranda achieve independence? |

Historically and to a lesser extent today, the Guarandine hinterland was Lucerna's primary rubber exporter, although having been displaced with the creation of synthetic rubber.
Yes, since early colonization and the end of the Great War, Guaranda was a large cash-crop and agricultural commodities exporter. Even today, Guaranda is known for it's agro-businesses.
Amerindian's make up approximately 6% of Guaranda's population, however the Guarandine is internationally criticized for it's historic ill-treament of it's native people. Most notably, the Guarandine Hinterland Security Statute which established martial law and direct federal rule after the increasingly violent Qichwan-funded JFG began to expand, which is still in place today. The largest native group is the Jivarío, with 1.8 million people.
Racism in Guaranda is not as prevalent as it once was, and yes, historically racism was highly prevalent towards mulattos and amerindians.
Segregation was never directly codified into law, with the downfall of the Palenque Republics in the early days of independent Guaranda, the the leaders we able to bargain for nominal equality although this was never truly enforced until the Socialist rule during the 1930s.
