1. Fried soda was popular at festivals throughout Scanonie a couple of years ago, but that fad has recently died away. Pork rinds are eaten in Scanonie, but their popularity has dwindled; the pork rind industry made $128 million dollars last year, compared to an income of $176 million in 2003. Lucerna's largest pork rind factory, Randolph Foods, Inc, is located in northwestern Saandusti Territory, in the village of Fulton. The town holds an annual pork rind festival that consists of music, rides, and, of course, consuming more pork rinds than is healthy for a human. The rest of Scanonie pretends that this doesn't exist. I wish I wasn't just describing my hometown for this answer. 2. Roughly 78% of Scanonie's population lives in urban areas. Those who do not usually live in small towns or villages that dot the countryside. The Missichonie Canal was constructed in 1834, and connects the lake to the sea. 3. The ethnic demographics of Scanonie are as follows: 31% Caucasian 21% Wyandot 15% Shawnee 11% Hispanic 9% African descent 6% Other Native American 3% Asian 2% Other Roughly 64% of the population can speak Wendat, and about 75% can understand it. As more and more Native people are elected to government positions, the language has seen increased use at the federal level; programs have been implemented to increase fluency in this language for this reason. The flagship program of this movement, The Wendat Fluency Initiative (W-FI) has been developed to send fluent Wendat speakers into schools to better educate students in this language. |
