Rules

1. Keep it Canon
Given the timeline of Mass Effect Continuity, there has not been a lot of technological progress since in-game events. As such, tech levels of Continuity should remain fairly similar to what's found in game. This is not Star Wars, Star Trek or Gears of War. As such, we should not be seeing droids, replicators, or power armor* that mysteriously does not weigh a thousand pounds and fits on a man that's been fed a steady diet of steroids his entire life.

*I have seen the "battle armor" advertised for Mass Effect 3. It is large and bulky and not at all like power armor. Until we know more details about this "battle armor", such types of inventions will be strictly regulated.

2. Use What You Make
I understand the urge to make a ton of shiney new equipment because you can, but such a desire can easily get out of control. Please refrain from putting forth inventions unless they have an intended use in a current or upcoming thread. Inventions that are just gathering dust with no intention of being used will be archived.

This includes base models for ships. While this is a nice idea, most in-use ships will be designed and named separate from their base models. Unless a series of individual ships have been (or will be) produced that use a similar base, there should not be a need for defining the base model itself.

3. No Art Theft
This is an overarching rule for the entire site. At no point in time should you be using images that you do not have permission to use. There are plenty of in-game shots that are free for use and a great many art programs out there that can suffice for making your own. It is also possible to get permission from some artists to use their work. With so many avenues available, we should not be seeing any art theft on MEC.

Remember, art is nice, but not necessary information.

4. Where To Post
All inventions, no matter their purpose, must first be approved by a mod before they can be used. New inventions need to be posted in the main forum. After approval, they will be moved to the appropriate subforum.

5. Templates
The following template is just a guideline for how to build your invention. It includes all the information we deem necessary for approvals. It is possible (and sometimes encouraged) to include more information or dress up your design in a unique way. So long as we have the info we need to make a fair judgement on your invention, any ol' template will do.

License: (who is allowed to buy the product?)

Description: (physical details)

Further Details: (this can be used to give a biography of the item, how it came to be and why it was invented. For ships or weapons, it can also be used to give details such as weapon capacity, speed, crew sizes, and so on. Such details are very much appreciated to get a better idea of potentially dangerous inventions. For ships, the more description that goes into them, the better.)
