Pierre Calleja is a French biochemist who managed to come up with an algae-powered lamp. It would be interesting to note that such lamps are filled with water and algae that throughout the day convert sunlight and CO2 from the air. The produced power is collected in batteries that are connected to the tank. At night the batteries are used to power the light and thus generate a bright green glow. Due to the fact that the algae in the lamp can serve as a powerful instrument in maintaining low levels of CO2 emissions, it could also be used in underground parking garages. |
