We always say:

"Join us; Join an organisation, Join a queue, Join an activity, Join another person, etc."
In that case: Join us : Be together with us

In another case, two friends of yours are going to join an English Club, for example, and both of them also have just known you are willing, too. They may call you and say: "Join with us, will you?". They mean "you enjoy that club and also want to be together, therefore, it is a good idea that all 3 go and join the club.

Note there also are: "JOIN IN / JOIN UP WITH / JOIN UP IN" with no much difference

And if i want to invite someone to join our activity - as a member - i will say "please join with us"

Actually, many dictionaries (Oxford, Colin Cobuild, Webster...) doesn't define "join with" (there are only "join, join in, join up with...). Longman does define "join (with) sb in doing st or join (with) sb to do st" but "with" is in the brackets
So I think "join" and "join with" have same meaning. And "join with" may come from spoken English

* As my understanding, when someone asks you: "join with me", he/she may mean to ask you to do something together with them. As in the example above (by tmtb), the two friends want the other one go together with them and join the club together (go and join at the same time, not go alone). But Mr Hòa said we can use "join us" (there won't be any differences)

In fact, just say: "Join us" (without with). "Join with" was mentioned and explained because that "phrasal verb" has been used actually, but it is not of standard English. Think of something similar: "Discuss" is not accepted by the British to be used as "Discuss about" even people still use it in many cases. "Discuss: talk about" & "Join: be together with".

They are ironically mentioned: "Discuss about=talk about about" & "Join with: be together with with".

Therefore, it is wise to simply use: "Join" to avoid unecessary disputes :D :D
