St. Augustine – Due to rain on Monday night, members of the Occupy St. Augustine group have rescheduled their Candlelight Vigil for injured police and protestors across the nation in recent weeks to be held Saturday, December 17, from noon until 9 p.m.

The Vigil will be held in front of City Hall (Lightner Building) located at 75 King Street.

The public is invited to attend the protest and candlelight vigil, which will also be dedicated to those in the Civil Rights movement who sustained injury or loss of life in the 1960s.

“We want to bring attention to all the injured people, and not just within the movement. I think this should concern to everyone,” Occupy protester Danielle Fountain said at a recent organizational meeting for the group.

On Monday, approximately 15 members of Occupy St. Augustine braved rain, cold and high winds for their Occupy City Hall protest on Monday, also addressing the commission on local issues, including the ordinances forbidding artists and performers in certain areas of the downtown.

“I’m very pleased that we got an important issue that has been ignored back in the forefront for the commissioners. I feel we did some good, and we will be back,” said Occupier Ralph Hayes outside the commission chambers Monday.
