nice backpedaling on poor choices to begin with. Someone needs to get some brains over there at MS, seems like they shove their shit out and wait for the bitching........at least they didn't release then patch away the mistakes.... kinda like they are now with windows 8 |

Yeah I saw that a little earlier, I like it...just brought Xbone back into contention for me, which is good because I've been looking for an excuse to switch back over. I still don't like the $500 price tag tho. Edited by Tommyb, Jun 20 2013, 12:04 AM.

I still not sure. Neither MS or Sony is very clear at this point. Still leaning towards Xbox because of the cloud and possibility of dedicated servers. |

I know this has been brought up before, but I can't find the thread. I'm thinking about getting a bike to ride downtown and I know absolutely nothing about them. I think I'm just going to go to a bike shop and see what they have for around $700-800. I was looking online and I really like the Specialized Hardrock. Front shocks, hard tail, disc brakes. Ill use it for trails and bike paths and shit like that, nothing too hardcore either way. Any suggestions on what brands to look for? I know we have a few bikers on here. |

specialized helllll yeaaaaaaaaaaa, anything in that price range should fit whatever you are trying to do, in fact probably cheaper. don't let no disk brakes be a deal breaker, and yes front shock only no need for anything with a rear suspension. if you aren't going to be doing trails as much as you think i'd really look at a road bike, super fast! i wish i got one of these babys years ago! |

Disc brakes arent a deal breaker, but they're cool so I want them haha. And yeah I've already decided against the rear shocks. I thought about it and I wouldn't really need one of those at all. I thought about a road bike but I would very rarely ever be on an actual road. Almost everything would be on a paved bike path or grass/dirt trails and stuff. |

OoOh ok, yea rear shocks do nothing but ware you out, unless you are diving down mountains they suck. disc brakes stop somewhat better but the real good thing about them is wet stopping, they'll stop just as good wet as dry.... i don't really run into a situation where my whole rim is soaking wet and i've ridden normal brakes my whole life so I know how to adjust for wet riding. they also are mostly hydraulic just like cars....... i remember sc00by's brakes would get werid sometimes and they'd drag and we'd have to bleed them and do some stuff... i just found that to be a PITA to me. i don't really ride mine in the "road" like with cars, i use surface streets, bike lanes, and we have nice big wide paved bike paths I ride on. if i hop in the street i only do it when the coast is clear.... cars suck, when you are on a bike its like you have a target painted on you. it will be good for bigger bumps and stuff but 29 inch wheels are REALLY going to take your acceleration down. getting this road bike up to speed with 28.5 inch wheels is like WORK even in a low gear, i'd hate to have to do that on a heavier bike ON DIRT. And your turning radius is going WAY up as well.. turning around? might as well just stop and pick the bike up cause you'll need a car lane to do a U turn. But you do also live in the mountains so i guess if you've got some nice trails with downhill it might be ok but WHOOF it will be huff and puff time up hill. i'd stick with what you are riding on, you've got better accel, sharper turning, and more control, which is what you want on the trails, and just in general with a kicking around bike....... I personally wouldn't even ride them on a MTB either, i like being able to manhandle it. Edited by sn00zie, Jun 20 2013, 08:56 PM.

The last trail we were on the drops, and jumps scared the shit out of me. I thought the larger wheels would make it feel more stable. I pretty much never felt in control the entire time, and I felt like I was going way too fast. If people are wearing face masks on the trail, that's a bit concerning as well. |

hahah, well I think seat time will fix that, and just slow it down where you feel comfy. Do they have any kind of flat trail where you can just cut your teeth? the guys waring face masks are prob just trying to bomb down the trail as fast as they can and yea, if they bust they won't have any teeth left. just keep riding where you feel safe and you'll get better. see if you have any slower more technical trails, you'll get super good riding those a lot, and they aren't downhill speed trails. Last time I was just at the local walking park, and they have bike trails. Some of the slopes people were going down were steep. I felt like I was going to go over the handle bars. A lot of it was really rough to, it just didn't look safe. |
