Well... I think I'm getting about a 300% increase in insurance with a much increased put of pocket pay. From asking people, it seems to be around a 250%-800% increase. My 63 year old mom has to pay for maternity coverage. That makes a lot of sense. I'm loving this more and more. Don't worry though, illegals get free healthcare. If I need to go to the ER, I'm just gonna tell them I'm illegal.
Check your wives' insurance. Everyone has mandatory maternity coverage. I think her insurance will be about $5-600 a month.
I hate this, because I know a lot of people that own or work for small businesses and they're struggling as it is, pay their bills, and don't ask a dime of government aid, but with these increases, they won't be able to afford this shit at all.
yea what is up with that shit... you MUST carry maternity?!?! um isn't that what your insurance company LETS YOU ADD AND REMOVE WHEN YOU WANT TO HAVE A KID? yea thats how it works in normal land. so you can go out buy priv insurance, PAY but it doesn't meet this stupid ass gov standard and BOOOM PENALTY, this really makes a lot of fucking sense. unless you are breeding like an out of control monkey fk you won't need to cover maternity 1000000% of the time FOREVER. so yea, tommy your bill is going up and you are going to have to start paying for mat even though you aren't going to have a kid.... and mat cov IS NOT CHEAP. 200+ a month extra....which is why you APPLY and REMOVE.
Yes, from what I read everyone has to carry maternity coverage even people that have absolutely no chance of having a baby like my 63 year old mother. Even women with hysterectomies (have had their uterus surgically removed for medical reasons) have to pay for it. I guess we gotta pay for all the free healthcare people that pop a billion babies out. Then its just going to be cheaper to HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE *HEM* and still take the yearly penalty....as if you have nothing. can your mom just opt out of that bullshit? her payment would drop at least 200 a month, then big whoop pay your stupid tax pen at the end of the year.
looks like what im going to be doing cause im damn sure not hauling that shit around FOREVER.

I was under the impression that you pay the $95 and you have to decline insurance all together.

We did let the private sector handle healthcare and they raped the system for everything it's worth, and now it's failing. Without the provisions of the ACA in place, the healthcare system will for sure fail before long. Healthcare providers, doctors, and hospitals are losing money fast. I hate government intervention as much as the next guy, but I don't see that we have a choice. Going down this path doesn't leave much hope for our entire healthcare system, and in 10-15 years it wont matter how much money you have. There are a lot of parts about Obamacare that I dislike, but take out all the bullshit about the free healthcare for shitheads and everything people are bashing about Obamacare blah blah blah, and there's still about 85% of the ACA left that will put in regulations to SAVE our health system from certain doom. But for some reason the news outlets completely ignore those most important parts because it doesnt get anybody riled up enough to cause drama/ratings.
There is a difference between a little government intervention, and turning it into the entire healthcare industry into the obama machine. I'm not against a little government regulation to get things in order, but this is absolutely ridiculous. This act is about throwing more taxpayer money at a problem when what we should be doing is fixing the drain on healthcare instead. It was the same thing with the auto industry, and our economy in general. It's what Obama has been doing this entire time... Making the poor richer, and making the middle class poor. Just from the perspective of someone that has been shopping for priv insurance and knowing the low down on rates prem...etc etc etc... Then this thing came along and i really spent days and days researching it hoping I could actually join...and get a decent rate.......
no, this is a complete cluster fucked mess. The GOV even states whatever rate you see NOW, its going to go up.....but they "hope" it goes back down as many young not sick people start getting in the system..yes they said it just as plain as that. So not even THEY know how the rates are going to shake out, just that don't be shocked WHEN THEY GO UP.
and what is up with the medicad gap? Hell some people are still going to be dirt poor, just not dirt poor enough for medicad, but making to little for obamacare...whoops they get left in limbo, and yes they'll get that nice penalty too. So this thing is just swing dicks left and right at everyone, Poor people too...just not under the bridge poor.

its 95 $ or 1% of your income, which ever is greater of course.

Again, I'm not saying it's a perfect system, far from it. It's just to get the ball rolling on regulations that will save our healthcare system. It's going to have glitches, but once it's in effect those will get ironed out in time and if it doesn't it will get repealed. Nothing works perfect the first time out, and if people really get fucked in the ass as badly as you said, they'll rectify it. And if not, then next election we can all go back to the fag hating, racist, dont give a shit about half the country, fuck the 99%, Jesus loving, god bless america, bring church into the government Republican president, at which time they can remove Obamacare and we can all go back to paying normal rates with the old system for a few years before it collapses =)

well...from all my brain melting studying. this new gov plan is NOT for people working for themselves. If you can't plan next years income, don't even bother. Also working for yourself with tax write offs etc your NET might look like shit..so your taxable income won't fit cause what if you just broke even with no profit?????? Seems like this is for people with normal jobs, that do not have cov cause the employer dropped it or never had it. Our profit/loss sheet is almost always zero. I wonder how that's gonna affect us. do you provide insurance to all of your employees?
you could go check out odogs plan for small biz and see what the taxable income requirements are.. I don't know anything about small biz, but if you are working for yourself and busting your ass keeping your bills paid and running a break even...... nope, no dice.

also, this could have all been avoided if our government on both sides werent so fucking stubborn and arrogant. There was plenty of room for compromise to get the ACA to refine it, compromise and agree on shit to get the important stuff passed. But the GOP wouldnt budge at all and the Democrats just said fuck you we'll write it up how we want it then and see if it passes, and it did. The GOP is just as much to blame for this cluster fuck as the Democrats. But Obamacare wont matter in a few years anyway. At the rate at which our country is being divided by the stupidity of both sides of our government, and the fact that 98% of american are mindless sheep that will do whatever the fuck their reps say, our society will collapse in a few years anyway so it really doesnt matter. fuck it...lets get hammered.

After reading, we have less than 50 employees so we may not be affected in that case.
From what I've heard from some friends that have larger businesses than me, they're dropping a lot of employees to part time to try to avoid the costs. This sucks because these employees have families to take care of that can't afford the drop in work hours.

I had lots of questions and did tons of research and the "income" bracket thing really had me confused, how the fuck will you know your 2014 income... lets say you base it on what you made this year.. ok so what if next march you lose your job, and you don't get another one the rest of the year.
come tax time, you'll file your return, they'll see OHHH Tommy dropped out of the income bracket. Guess what they are going to do... they are going to send you THE FULL BILL for what they paid the insurance company as your tax subsidy. So not only did you get kicked in the balls and lose your job, you'll get a nice big ass huge fking bill come tax time.
i was very very very very interested in this part cause im out on my own and I know my income goes up and down from month to month, and i've been reading .gov pages till my eyes bleed.
its madness.

I'd bet we'll have a strong libertarian candidate. So we can have a fuck you big brother, I can take care of my damn self without government aid, and we'll leave religion, and sexual orientation in the household because it's no one's damn business if I love boys or who I worship, as long as it doesn't affect me country. If you don't want to work, then fuck you, you get no say.
There is a third option these days, you don't need to be left or right wing.
If I have to choose between the liberals, and conservatives, I'd choose conservative all day long because at least they stay out of my business instead of worry about stupid social issues which aren't all that important at the moment, but it seems most people vote based on social issues anyways.

Amen brother. I can't wait for a legit 3rd party. Hell make it 4 or 5....give us some options and keep the "road to the whitehouse" as diverse as possible. Tye more options we have, the harder it is to manipulate your way to the whitehouse (or throne these days?). Then we can all ban together as one, and focus our combined efforts to ultimately hate whichever party is currently in charge haha.

well this is starting to make more sense now... just talked to my dad, hes navy / retired GOV. He is paying for FULL FAMILY, and MATERNITY. RIGHT NOW... kids, we are longgggggggg gone, babies? LOLOLOO but he says that is how it is for every single gov / mil employee since FOREVER. Andddd he paid in to SS full just like any other working person and they are only paying him back 44%. So the gov is just expanding its policies out onto the general population.... except last time i checked.. THE GOV IS NOT PAYING ME TO WORK. He also described how he can enroll in other health care plans and other companies at certain times of the year, he whips out his blue cross federal card.......
guess what that sounded like 100% to the LETTER.... the MARKET PLACE EXCHANGE. im sitting here with my mouth hanging open saying THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE FORCING US TO DO!

In the military, they make sure you're taken care of. You get married, have kids, and they pay you more. You got child support or alimony, they cover you. You live in a place with a high cost of living, the cover that too. No matter what you have to pay including insurance, the military makes sure that you can live comfortably. That's fine in that situation. However, the every man who's barely scraping by doesn't get a pay increase if his bills increase. No one is looking out for him if he can't pay his bills.

Hmmm, look like you have problems over there...
BTW, i don't have health insurance, like everyone in my family, but we get full coverage from the gov (except dentist and some strange specialist)
If you don't feel comfy with the system and you have enough money, you can always pay an insurance to receive treatment in private hospitals.

We're heading in that direction now, the problem with government regulated universal (free healthcare), is that the quality of health care will go down a lot. We're hoping to avoid that.

Well, it's weird, because we're going in the opposite direction
Government is trying to privatice the health system, this is, selling hospitals to private companies or pay them to manage it. That is making healthcare worse and more expensive.
P.S.: Some guys in the government have shares in health companies.
