Well I paid $75, that website can come close to that on the low end. Good site to know though, thanks! Quality could have probably came out better than what I got, but it would be a gamble I suppose. |

Building credit is a PITA. I'm constantly on the phone with credit card companies right now. |

you should have it built... you have a house payment.....utilities.... car insurance....etc etc etc.... I got my card thru my credit union, easy cheezy. I often wanna apply for one of those black cards just for the hell of it, not that i'd do anything that I don't with my normal. |

I'm about to build a new house, so I want my credit as high as possible to get the lowest interest rate possible. My credit is pretty decent right now (low-mid 700's), but I want to be in the high 7's/low 8's. As of last year, my credit card limits have been really low. Highest I had was an $1100 limit not including business credit. I recently just went on an app spree to acquire new credit, which may have hurt me in the short term but good in the long term. I just opened up 10 new credit cards. I've been on the phone with a bunch of their under writing departments to get my limits increased, and to convert them in to prime cards. One I've had good success with was lowes hardware. They gave me a $300 limit, so I immediately called the credit card company, and asked for a $4k limit, and they gave it to me, no questions asked. I did the same with chase, low $1k limit, and asked for $5k, and they gave it to me. I'm currently in talks with capital one asking for a limit increase to $10k. After talking with them today, the card I have is a rebuilder card with no benefits, and I managed to get them to upgrade me to a prime card with a ton of cashback/rewards options, better apr, etc. As of now, the highest limit I have is $6k, but I'm trying to get around an average card limit of $15k. This would of been so much easier if I had been working on this a little bit at a time over the past few years, but it's a lot of work right now trying to get all my ducks in a row in the past week. I have to call discover in the next two weeks to check about my limit there. I've been crazy active on credit forums reading, and figuring out the best ways to boost my credit score to true top tier status. I'm monitoring all my credit reports as well, some of the credit cards I chose give me a FICO score for different credit bureaus monthly which is included for having the card. If I knew back then what I know now, my home mortgage payment would be 100's of dollars cheaper monthly. Back then, I was content with just good enough to get a home mortgage, and pay my bills on time. Apparently, it's very complex and proper utilization of your credit can save you a ton of money. I've even read about people making money by moving money around with various accounts and cards. I just made a purchase for a new washer and dryer at lowes... With my lowes credit card, I get a 5% discount or 0% interest for 18 months. I opted for the 5% discount, and transferred the balance to another card with 0% interest for a year, and 2% cashback for an additional discount. I'm still new at this, but I'm starting to understand it more, the more I read on the forums. I've even heard of some guy on the credit forums buying a $30k mercedes on his credit card so he can get the cashback, and no interest perks. The car salesman hated it, but he did it anyways. Another guy bought a car on his credit card for the cashback but didn't have a good APR option, so he bought the car on his card, and then went straight to the bank for an auto loan to pay off his credit card in full. I used to be a debit card guy and I never used credit cards, and make all my purchases with debit, but now I'm using my prime credit cards, and paying in full every month to take advantages of the benefits, and build my credit. Hmmm I got 10k with a extra 15k line of credit, no questions asked... actually I DIDN"T ASK, i just went into my CU for a new ATM card and then they were just like BAM here you go sir, I left slightly confused with a nice glittery card in my mailbox shortly after. I've got so many points on my card my CU is sending me letters asking me to cash them in...i think i have enough for a new TV by now hahahahah. I have no idea what my score is, i've never checked or even looked which I know i should be i just pay my bills like clockwork so i don't much care... when I got new car insurance, they pulled it and i went thru underwritting in 2.5 seconds. watch that debit card... never ever ever ever ever use it online. Just a few months ago my CC got heisted which is crazy cause im super fking careful when where what, but my CU caught it and killed the card....that was werid trying to check out one day and i get some werid error message UMM. From now on if i use my card online (which is where it got nabbed - website hack) im not... im getting a prepaid visa gift card loading $$ on it and using that online. The simon prepaid visas work exactly like a CC everywhere. THE AMEX DO NOT, visa only. I'm trying to get the wife credit cause she has 0.0 nothing in this country and its chicken and the egg hunt....she can't even get a flipping capital one PRE PAID card.. WTF.. logic???? I guess im going to have to co sign on something for her. |

Actually that reminds me!!! when i was buying the saturn, I went to my CU for a loan, was just planning on pulling a used car loan out for 4 months max as I already had a plan to pay it off super quick. I expected to be in and out within 30 mins... as all my main accounts are with them, so they know what I have......it was a clear no brainer but they blahbalbhlablhablh i got so mad, i had to turn into "bank of myself" and loan against my own money and pay myself back... stupidest thing ever. (thats actually a good trick to build credit as well) So thats kinda how I roll now, I don't ask anyone else for anything I just need to have enough for whatever I want cause jumping thru someone elses hoops is annoying. I know myself im very good with math when it has a $$ attached to it and im super careful. The only thing i'll get a loan for ever again is a house, and if they look at me crossed eyed im going to punch someone in the face, and return to "bank of myself" grrrr whats the point... people with bad spending habits seem to get whatever they want, and then me the 1000% not that.............. My adopted rule is, if you can't buy is cash... you can't afford it. Edited by sn00zie, Oct 14 2013, 10:33 PM.

You may want to keep up with your credit report if you plan on getting a home loan down the road. I have pretty good credit, but that little bump into top tier credit can save you quite a bit of money. To get in the top tier, you gotta plan everything out, and figure out what the credit card companies want from you. To boost my credit, I'm using my chase card, and they like heavy usage and pay in full every month so that's how I'm buying all my stuff right now. I'm running everything through my cards, and just paying it. A few years ago, I was just paying my bills on time, and making payments, but apparently, it's not good enough. You gotta play the game and do what the credit card companies want. If you buy stuff online, most of the big credit card companies like capital one, or chase... you can login online into your credit card account, and there is an option to generate a one time use credit card number for every purchase you make. I do this sometimes if something feels kinda sketchy about a site. You shouldn't have any problems going to your bank and getting your wife a secured credit card. Wait, a few months and call underwriting, and ask to make it unsecured. Keep low balance, and pay in full every month, and ask for credit line increase every few months. Shoot for the stars when asking for a credit limit increase, and they will counter with something. Edited by ilivas, Oct 14 2013, 11:52 PM.

obama care sucks..... its giving some people 15,000 deductables and loopy shit like that. what a big cluster that thing is. Maybe it will get better...i hope it does, but the early adopters are going to take a beating.
red flag number 1 for me, they also use that info against you.. you are pretty much flagging yourself. Edited by sn00zie, Oct 15 2013, 09:33 PM.

Apparently because wife just got a full time position at a state hospital, she's a nurse, it will cost $40 per month for both of us which is a premium plan, full eye, dental, etc. through the hospital I will now be on her insurance. We're lucky I guess... Before she got that job, it was gonna cost a ton.

I'm currently where Ilivas is at insurance wise, I think it might be a bit more but I know its under $100 a month because my wife works for a hospital. Eye wise we had to pay for her glasses and contacts, but dental we each have $1k to spend a year before going out of pocket and the health coverage is pretty good. Which is good seeing as our combined monthly net income is only around $2200. |

Before, I had no eye coverage and just payed out of pocket. Now we're covered for free eye exams and up to $250 for glasses or contacts annually each. |

I'm due for an eye exam too. I used to have better than 20/20...I think they said like 18/20 or something, but now my eyes are getting shitty. It's weird, things are getting blurry that didn't used to be, like when I play any kind of video game, I really have to squint and try to read any kind of subtitles or anything like that. buuuuut, i found out that if i get racist and do "Chinese eyes," then it moves my eyes into the correct position and i can see perfectly. I spoke with my friends husband at a wedding a few weeks ago who's an optometrist, and he said that even tho the Chinese Eye thing sounds stupid, it actually makes sense. He said that since I work on computers so much for the last 15 years that the muscles in my eyes have kinda grown and adjusted to it so its fucking with my far away vision. I need to get some glasses or something because it's getting pretty bad. So bad that video games havent gotten any better looking to me in the last 5 years haha. |

That's very good. You can do a little better to get better rates (800+), but with your score, you'll never be turned down for anything. |

i've had glasses since i was a kid 8 years old I think, then as I got older they finally started making contact lenses that would work with an astigmatism, wore contact lenses from a teenager up until i was 28. Then my eyes started to get grumpy and dry and i found i couldn't ware my lenes as long as I used to......so now i just kick around the house waring glasses then if I go out or on the weekends its back to contacts. 3 years like this seems to help my eyes aren't as dry anymore, as i was having to sleep with eye drops next to my bed for a while. I hate glasses but whatever, if i don't stop waring my lenses so much I won't be able to ware them at all anymore. I do like just being able to hop outa bed and toss on my glasses and see...and not have to screw around with contacts in a sleepy stumble. Edited by sn00zie, Oct 16 2013, 11:41 AM.
