Northstarred The act of having significant working capital removed from an operational budget due to rampant failures of a once great GM engine family that is now as famous for its rampant capital intensive failures as it once was for excellence. |

I know this is an autos forum and everything, but I'm almost completely done with spending money on cars. They're just the worst investments of all time, and unless I'm getting my dream car or something, I cant stand it. Over the last 10-15 or so years, cars have gotten so absurdly expensive, that I've become so cynical of them. |

yea i'd never thought i'd see the day cars cost as much as some people mortgage on a starter home. I know they are getting better, but not THAT MUCH BETTER. its outa hand, i'd hate to see what these peoples monthly payment is. Worst investments...oh yea, all they do is cost you $$$, up keep, fuel, etc etc etc. Once you find a car that doesn't nickel and dime you KEEP IT TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF! I couldn't drop that kinda $$ on a car, no way in hell, thats a down payment for a waterfront home in some areas. |

Yeah I sometimes want to light all of my cars on fire. With 5 of them all I feel like I do is play fleet manager with my money. |

5 wow! when do you find the time to drive all of them!the only bonus about having a few cars is they all take a serious mileage hit, mazda gets the daily around town miles, vue stays parked and covered up until the weekend. I've had that car...5 years? i've only put 20,000 on

I don't drive my Focus or E36 although I am planning to start soon. I was driving the 300 SRT quite a bit more but not as much due to the winter. So two SUVs do most of the winter DD duties. |

I think I'm going to get a Boxster in the next month or two with my tax return. I really want a convertible roadster. I was thinking corvette, but It's starting to lose it's appeal to me. |

Hmm did you test drive a C7 yet or where you contemplating a C5/6??? Man the C7 turns my head anytime I see one out and about, I've heard the convertible looks even better. I can't believe these people lived, that is crazy. Eh time to go put the heads on the car. This is why I've just modified the same car for 10 years. Remember Moxhair? That crazy guy was buying and modifying a new car every two years, no idea how anyone in their right mind could do that...... I went to the mall a few weeks back and had sticker shock. They had a BRZ on display, $32k???!!! What the fuck? And they wonder why they have poor sales? Um its only $2k cheaper than a WRX! That should be a $22k car. Its low on power and options. The market it is made for wouldn't in their right mind spend that for that car, so much better could be acquired. |

When the Crown Vic dies, I'm going to see how long I can get by without having a car. Depends on what time of year it is tho. I go out of town a lot in the summers so that would be hard. Other than the occasional trip, I don't really need a car. |

Used muscle cars are still the way to go. You can get a LS1 car for $3k and under all day. $500 for nitrous and you are over 500hp on the cheap if you wanted to go that way. Buy a 4.8/5.3 truck, Chinese turbos, stupid fast. I think domestic can still be done on the cheap. After getting the heads/intake on yesterday I was a bit ambitious in planning today but reality is not a lot got done. Painted the radiator support, got the fuel rail back on, got the steam pipe annoying crap setup. Its enough to feel like progress.

I'm looking at a low mileage C7 or Boxster. The C7 is more expensive used so I'm not sure if I want to spend that much on the car. It really is a head turner though. |

You can actually get a GTR for pretty cheap, they're not holding their value very well. |

No idea what they need, I was wondering the same thing myself. Repairs are definitely a concern. They're not really cars that I feel comfortable working on myself either. I'm fairly sure as far as maintenance, you can't get new rotors and pads at autozone, like most cars so that's a buzz kill. |
