Haha if you're waiting in line overnight for Madden you're a godamn sucker. I've walked into stores and bought that game day of the release every year since 05 and I've never left without a game. |

Siri is nifty but I would never use it. My gf has it...its ok, I just would rather do it myself.. Siri tends to not understand what I say, or doesnt report back with the right info. Only think I use voice for sometimes is to txt...and the android voice recognition is pretty flawless at that. but thats just my opinion. I dont discredit Apple for their marketing at all. All companies try to do what they do and fail, thats not apples fault. What I hate are the Apple nutswingers that wait in lines over night and try to convince you that its the best phone in the universe. If all Apple users were like you Ilivas, I wouldn't have an issue. You're an apple advocate, you like their products, you buy the newest shit whenever it comes out, you swear by their products, and you'll state you opinion if people try to discredit the devices. But you don't go out of your way to try and convince people that apple is the end all be all of technology, and you seem to understand that everything is just personal preference. If somebody dogs Apple, i get the sense that you feel theyre wrong, but are just kinda like "meh...whatevskis"...and thats fine. Its sad that there are so many apple users that are so elitist and uppity that it ruins the entire brand name. Although recently it seems like there are a growing number of andoid nutswingers out there as well. It's like Apple is republican and Andoid is Democrat....both sides fucking hate eachother and only 1% of them actually know why

I don't wait in line for video games, or phones... no one ever sells out of madden or COD. Same with the iphone, you don't have to wait in line for one if you don't want to.People waited in line for PS3, and xbox 360...I just waltzed in and grabbed one, or to see the new star wars movies... People just like waiting in line, I guess it's part of the experience. Edited by ilivas, Oct 26 2012, 12:27 AM.

Siri works perfect for me... Take into account that I have the stereotypical Asian non-existent accent, which might have something to do with it. I speak like a newscaster with zero accent which is weird because I was raised in the south around rednecks. It gives me sports scores, sends & reads texts, make dinner reservations, turn by turn driving directions, take notes, gives business phone numbers, movie show times, etc. I took some screen shots of the different stuff it can do. I'm still amazed at how accurate it is. I really just started really using it recently since I was not aware of everything that it could do before. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've been to the apple, and android forums, and people defend that shit like it's religion. People need to understand, it's just a phone, and most of us have no real investment in either company. In the end, at least in my opinion, itr comes down to this. With android, it's more of a hacker's phone, you can do a lot of shit and customize a lot of things. If you like to tweek and tinker, the options are endless. While apple has the walled garden where you are very limited in what you can do, but everything it does, it does better then every body else. However, 99% of people can e-mail, twitter, text, and facebook just fine from either phone. I definitely don't buy every new apple product, I try to upgrade every two years. Every generation isn't enough of an improvement for me to justify buying all new stuff. Every two years, I can justify that. Edited by ilivas, Oct 26 2012, 01:10 AM.

You don't have siri unless you have at least a 4S which is the speech recognition stuff. You can get siri on your iphone 4 if you hack it though, I hear it's not that hard. Passport is pretty nice. It saves your membership cards, and coupons, and uses GPS to automatically bring up a coupon or rewards card when you walk in a store. It also works with concert tickets, movie tickets, and plane tickets. ![]() ![]() Slingplayer, hulu, and netflix is nice for entertainment. I watch a lot of anime, so I use crunchy roll as well. You can also control directv, or dish network dvr recordings on the go from their apps. Logmein ignition is a nice remote desktop app. tapatalk is a great forum app panoramic photos are cool apple maps is a nice free turn by turn directions gps app motion-x gps for hiking, biking, outdoor gps. you can tether internet to a computer, ipad, or whatever. you've got face time too... I can probably think of a few more later. Edited by ilivas, Oct 26 2012, 12:49 AM.

I think we can all agree that MS has been wildly successful in many areas like windows, xbox, MS office, etc. However, not so much with tablets, music players, pdas, and phones. Honda makes decent cars, but that doesn't mean they would make good refrigerators. Edited by ilivas, Oct 26 2012, 06:58 AM.

Head of windows is now steven stefenaouskjfsi which seems to have his stuff together. its multi headed, i was actually shocked to see an interview with bill the other day on win 8. I haven't seen him do an interview on MS related stuff in AGES. |

I actually had Mitsubishi in mind when I thought of that, but I don't like Mitsubishi cars or their tvs. I think Honda makes pretty good generators and small motor stuff. |

It's a bunch of shit... I think Adam Sessler formerly of G4 made a correct assessment about phone, and tablet games. He said that most people, including himself, play smartphone games when he's somewhere he doesn't want to be, like a doctor's office, on the train, waiting for a meeting, etc. He never plays them at home, where he can play a game he actually wants to play. Halo, call of duty, and assassins creed, come out in a few weeks. You can bank on those games making a bajillion dollars. More records will be broken. Edited by ilivas, Oct 29 2012, 11:35 AM.

I agree with Ilivas, but at the same time I don't. I think for older people like us, the console and PC will never die because it's just so much better than anything a tablet can offer. And I usually only play games on my phone when I'm trying to waste time during another activity. Sometimes there will be a game I play a lot like Cut The Rope or something, but other than that it's just a time filler. But, I have 5 nieces and nephews that are younger and they seem to be more into the handheld/tablet games. They still play COD, and stuff like that on console, but the interest in the mobile app style games is a lot higher with their generation. I still don't think he would prefer a mobile game over call of duty or anything, but it's definitely trending more that way with his generation than ours. And none of his friends do anything on PC, so I can definitely see that whole demographic being carried on solely by our generation as well, minus the few kids with gaming parents that have gaming computers they can get hooked up with when they're young. But our generation needed a PC for a sweet game. Console games sucked when we were kids, so if we wanted a kick ass graphic intensive game, we had to force ourselves to learn how to build a computer and get into PC gaming. Now the consoles are at a point where they dont have the need to get into computers so their only hope is to have a PC gamer to influence them. |

i don't know man lots of little kids play L4D2 on steam.. im all the time joining games with 10 to 14 year olds. A kid also hit me up for a gaming computer so he could play minecraft, and he was like 11 years old hahahaha you gota remember PC gaming was never like console gaming where every kid on the block had an NES, and you had your small group of PC gaming friends. and im actually finding its more out there these days then it was when we were hacking away on our old 100Mhz computers. Diablo 3 ads were EVERYWHERE when it was getting released. in general kids just dick around on their phones, and they'll play a console mom and dad got them... thats what kids do. I don't see jobless kids going out and picking up gaming rigs... unless mom and dad pay for it... and if they don't... its back to phone and dicking around on whatever device they can. I played significantly more PC games when I was a kid, and my friend's did too. Commander Keen, Mech Warrior, X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, Star Commander, etc. However, back then PC games ran fine on off the shelf PCs. Now, the entrance fee is more difficult since you have to manually assemble it, and shell out a grand. Xbox 360s right now are $100, if you're broke (like a lot of people are right now), and are just a casual gamer... that sounds pretty good. Plus most people I know, only play one or two games anyways. I don't play near as much as I used to. When I do, it's normally one game. I don't see how people can play a phone game for more than 10 minutes, after that... it's torture. Although, I do play social games like scramble, or words with friends. Only for 2 minute stretches at a time though. Edited by ilivas, Oct 29 2012, 01:36 PM.

yea phone games are great time wasters but i can't play very long. im getting people gaming rigs for cheap, i make the cost of entry as low as I can even if that means picking up some used ram and proc. I can always build into their budget... i've got an 3 entry levels sitting here for under 300. they won't be playing BF3 maxed out but they'll get them in the game and they can upgrade video cards later for added power, and with a proc swap and a video card they actually could be playing BF3 maxed out. |

hahaha omg Commander Keen!! You knew about that game? My friend had that game back in like '95 or something and I've never seen, or heard about it anywhere since. I figured it was just one of those random games you used to get on those 5-10 game bundled packs. I used to play that game ALL the time and totally forgot about it until now. I gotta see if they make a flash version of that game. EDIT: now that I think about it...it had to have been way before 95' Edited by Tommyb, Oct 29 2012, 01:48 PM.

I doubt many people care if it's maxed out anyways. When I was messing with the settings, I couldn't tell much difference between maxed out and 75%. Sometimes, I run a lower setting, and turn my case fans off so my office doesn't get so hot. http://slickdeals.net/f/5402374-Steam-Halloween-Sale-is-Live I'll be playing diablo soon, I just gotta finish skyrim on xbox. I've got 50 hours logged into skyrim so far. |
