picked up a new corsair GS600 power supply... then fan kicks on full blast at boot... then it just chills.. then it stops all together.

I guess my system under normal load isn't even enough of a strain to make the fan run ahhaaha no dust getting in this baby! basically a silent unit now.. see if i can heat it up with some gaming tonight.
When I first put mine together, I thought something was messed up because my PS fan wasn't running.
yea im just used to cheap ass power supplies, now i have a nice solid quality unit.

it was actually only 60.00 so it wasn't really even that pricey.
Yeah, I don't see the point in getting an expensive PS. As long as it provides enough juice, and can handle all spikes then I don't care. I don't think an expensive PS is going to make a computer any faster.
yea just get what you need and roll with it... but now that mine died and I have a better one, its nice having no fan noise.

even gaming in D3 all night the fan never kicks on in this thing... which is good, hopefully it will last a looonnngggg time.

i need to get some quiet 120 fans, that is where most of my noise is coming from right now.

I've been getting pretty good at post production with my photos. Over the past 6 months, I've dedicated at least 10-12 hours a week trying to take really shitty photos look nice. The majority of the pictures I take during a photo session are just test shots to get the settings right for the final photo, so I've been taking this shitty photos and trying to make them look nice. This photo was taken after I got home last night at about 4:00am. It was a really clear night, and the city had this eire look about it.

Here's the original photo.

Heres the edited one. I accidentally set the ISO really high on this picture and I didnt have it focused quite riight, so it's a little grainy if you zoom in, but if you dont blow it up to much, it looks fairly sharp. The link below is the blown up version, I didnt want to screw the whole page up with a bigger pic.

Here's one from the rooftop during the late summer. I stiched like 4 or 5 pics together in PS, so it doesnt all line up perfectly, but its not bad. Was also using a shitty kit lens that was terrible in low light to take the pic.

full sized pic looks way better

I bought a kegerator over the weekend. I wanted to make one, but i found a great deal on a brand new one that was opened, but never put together or used. A dude in the city got a kegerator as a wedding present about 2 years ago and never used it. It was just sitting in his storage locker this whole time so he decided to get rid of it. Anyway, Picked it up late yesterday and haven't put it together yet, but thats todays project.

I know what you're thinking, "Omg grow up you little bitch you're too old for kegs and beer pong you popped collar frat guy faggot"

But I can assure you that unless I have some kind of big party up on the roof or something, there will be no commercially sold kegs in this thing. It's just for my homebrewing so I dont have to fucking bottle the beer anymore. Bottlings cool, but A.) its a pain in the ass, and B.) it takes at least 4 weeks in the bottle until it has a really nice CO2 level, where at the keg is about 5-7 days until you can drink it.

Another reason why i got it, is that my GF's dad had invested in the distribution business of this really really good Microbrew in Chicago, and they said if I brought over a 5 gallon corny keg to the brewpub they'd fill it up with one of their beers for me. I'd have to pay for it of course, but they get a 50% discount for being an investor so itll be relatively cheap. That alone is worth it as the beer is absolutely amazing. I think it's my favorite beer to date. Everything they have is just sooooo good. It's taking off in Chicago very fast, they have been brewing for about 3 or 4 years, and distributing for about a year and a half and the distribution business is already like 2 or 3 years ahead of schedule as far as sales. I went to 4 different bars on Friday, and 3 of them had at least one of the beers on tap. Anyway, it's a pretty good place and I highly recommend anyone stops in there if they visit Chicago. It's slowly becoming a place people are traveling long distances to come too. It's Called Revolution Brewing. The only thing better than the beer is their food, which again is some of the best in the city IMO.

Yeah it's ridiculously good. I have a 23oz bottle sitting in my fridge of this limited edition Barely Wine Ale called Straight Jacket. I keep meaning to get a couple of those Sniffer style beer glasses to drink it with because its 13.8% abv. So good tho.

Yeah, either have I, but I've been wanting an excuse to build up my beer glass collection. I have a bunch of the normal kinds, including the bit german steins. But I would like to get a few pair sets of the obscure shapes they serve at micro brews just for the fun of it. I'm really not a beer snob at all, but I do have a thing for cool beer glasses...idk why.

RESIZE BIATCHHHHHHHHHH my screen exploded.

i used to have one of those big wine glasses.. like this big roundish thing that tapered off at the top, fit in your hand fine, but it would fit a deceivingly large amount of liquid in it... to the tune of almost 1/2 bottle of wine per glass.

i measured it up against my big tall 2 beer glass thing and almost a dead tie... to a glass a 1/4 its height.

yea drinking wine a 1/2 bottle at a time is a great way to end up on the floor.

its very thin glass and has long since broke but wow... what a magical thing

All the games that are cross platform were designed with xbox as the lead platform. The only ones that were designed for PS3 were exclusive to PS3 only. However, I don't know if it's going to be the same with the next gen PS4 or Xbox 720.

well the ps4 is going to be AMD and x86 so its not like they have to redo code for another archtech....

I have no idea what the xbox is going to be........but if they keep pushing you buy it its yours for life, and no used games anymore they are headed down a werid road, which might give PC gaming an upper hand.

console is mainstream, and if you shove that down peoples face, they might become not mainstream gamers (aka PC gamers)

its their war to win or lose.........but its a win either way for AMD as a chip producer.

I'm not totally opposed to a PS4 over the 720 when it's time for me to upgrade to a next gen console, but if Sony treats it anything like they did PS3, I'm not going to even look at it. PS3 could have been awesome, post release development was complete ass IMO. I'm most likely going to go 720 no matter what, after experiencing microsofts continued support to the console. Sony really needs to step up their game on this. Consoles arent just release and forget anymore, and it seemed like MS were the only ones that understood that.

I doubt they're going to restrict used games. Gamestop would freak out if they did that, and they are the number one seller of console games. It would be a mistake to piss off game stop. Not to mention, Best Buy and Amazon make a pretty good profit off used games as well.

I don't think PC gaming will ever be main stream because you pretty much have to build it, and for most people, it's cost prohibitive especially with our country as broke as it is right now. I think the only way that will happen is if the Steam Box is really awesome, they market it properly, and get a bunch of developers to jump on board and offer them exclusive titles. Because really, it's games that sells systems. The platform with the most, and best games wins. Fortunately, steam has valve which has some killer titles already. Steam will also need to take a significant profit loss on the hardware, and try to make their money on licensing software. I'm actually pretty excited about steam's console if it comes to fruition.

Oh yeah, and I remember developers saying that they hated making PS3 the lead platform on games because it was so hard to work on compared to Xbox, because xbox was very closely related to PC from a game dev standpoint.

They really rang every last bit out of the xbox... lol. They managed to keep it fresh for being so old. It's still a fun system... it's a hard system to beat for $100.
