the smaller LIGHTER car won! im glad the new pig thing lost. all that tech, and IRS and it lost to a low tech solid rear car. Unless you are racing around cobblestone roads a solid rear is just as good as an IRS on the track... atleast from what I've seen. |

I disagree with that completely. IRS is great. Being smaller and lighter is better though. |

have you driven a solid rear car that wasn't setup for drag only? around a smooth track im not sure where IRS would have the clear ass kicking advantage |

It depends on your definition on setup for drag only... lol. I'm not saying that a solid rear car can't handle well, because they can if setup properly. However all things equal, an IRS car will be better. I've also never seen a street or track where everything is perfectly flat, and smooth all the time. Not to mention, the reduction in unsprung weight. Solid rears are great for drag cars, but I see no reason for it in the corners. Street cars especially... they will not be seeing perfectly flat, and smooth roads very often. Corners bank left, and right. You have imperfections in the road, etc. I do agree, the smoother the road, the less advantage an IRS has though. Edited by ilivas, Aug 9 2012, 11:22 AM.

Going to sign up for Goodguys show at IMS again check it out you can see a glimpse of my Bel-Air at 1:34 on their previous year's video doing the autox - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNyBE2tUxZc&feature=player_embedded Bought some nice hellwig front and rear sway bars from Amazon of all places for cheap on sale like 50+% off and a front 12" disc brake system from wilwood with drop spindles for only $620, looking at some nice lookin upper and lower tubular control arms for only $350 as well and will get those when I get the money. Found some coilovers for just $300 too but need some cash before I get those. Also a 14:1 steering box for $240 will help a shit load since my stock box is a 22:1! |
