What are some thoughts on wheel color? Should I do gunmetal again, light silver like they originally were, or black?

I guess being buried in snow for several months last year has caused the paint to get chalky.

The gunmetal, or the silver they originally came as? I think I decided I'm going to try out the lighter silver again, make the car look less dark overall. I think it will be a wise move as I have the stainless steel CAMARO letters for the back I didn't put on yet and the stainless steel nose emblem.

I think I will paint the bumper sections black that are supposed to be black also, get it stock looking again.

Parts for the motor were ordered last week, so now just waiting to get the short block back in my hands.

Ghetto sprayed the rusty headers today. There really is no hope for them but for now I don't feel like springing for stainless headers. Well there are no holes rusted through them yet so they will still do the trick.....

They were originally ceramic coated headers from pacesetter, but when exposed they will rust....... Down the road I'll be springing for some stainless headers but at the moment they are not high on my priority list.

I believe he has a 300 SRT8....

Edit: I think he should paint it black and get a wide brimmed hat so we can call him Heisenberg.

You have a good memory. How did the ceramic coating deteriorate on the headers?

We are bro's on facebook :ha I see shots of that beauty on occasion on there. I see wannasupra's nice M3 on a weekly basis on there also :ha

So when I got them the coating was in decent shape, but the headers had sustained some bumps and scrapes by the time I got them, they came with the motor when I bought it back in 2007. So that is really all it takes, once it's scratched deep enough from maybe the car being too low or hitting things it can be compromised. So then last winter I didn't get the car put up in the barn, bam spent all winter submerged in snow. That didn't help them at all, or my radiator support for that matter.....

OOoOoo wow, didn't know the coating was that touchy. YEP stainless it is.. but still should you get them coated as well? doesn't the ceramic coating cut down on the heat?

coating does cut down on underhood temps but damn I don't know if I want to be laying out that much money on headers, stainless and then coating them? I suppose if ebay headers were bought at $250ish, but I think coating runs around $300......

sucks that you just got the motor back in, and now have to do headers. I hear headers are SUPER easy to install on a 4th gen with the motor in.....................................

I hear that stabbing yourself in the toe with a spoon is equally as easy.

If you don't have shitty motor mounts you basically just have to get the car high enough off the ground to get the headers in from the bottom. Should have the starter and steering shaft out of the car also. I put poly mounts in the car like back in 2007? 2008? Ah I can't remember. :ha Hard to believe I've had this car almost 11 years.

So just to clarify I am not replacing the headers now, they aren't leaking and I couldn't care less how they look at the moment. I drove the car tonight.

How funny, headers were the talk in this thread way back when....

I had picked up some stainless headers for the cheap, but they did need some love due to a coolant explosion in the prior owner's car...

They are going in the car tomorrow, I've slowly over the last few weeks been removing the old pacesetters.

I paid less than half what those headers would cost new, I'd say I did alright. :ha
