first off; i've been making my drinks 70/30. soo...yeah.

supporting mods are gay. I'll say it. why can't i just bolt up a GT35/40 or a GTX3076 and call it a day? Sure I know i need a tune but goddamnit...there are so many supporting mods needed for 400+ WHP. I should say a reliable 400+WHP. I have some pretty simple bolt ons and last fake dyno I'm at 307/358 at the wheels. it's fun...but not fun enough. I'd like a big turbo but waaaay too much to deal with...this is my daily driver...I need to accept that.

I've "accepted" my power journey is maxed for the platform. I'm not upgrading my turbo because that's just an entire new damn road to throw money at. And to be honest, I'd rather stock out and sell my car and start from a better platform if I want much more (force fed v8 rwd anyone?).

anyway, so my motor is a homo and done for now...where to goooo from here...oh right...suspension...because my driving to work requires way more than a stock suspension...

jesus I'm blathering on...

long story short, I have a set of H&R springs, EGR delete, & an oil catch can in the garage. springs not installed because it turns out I should probably address the rest of the things needed to drop your car 2" "safely"...for a daily...100 miles a day commute...

Corey doesn't count here, because...well because look at his car. Oh, neither does Cannon because he's a retard. my battery is going to die.

70/30? isn't that the standard?

this is what you run into when you use a 4cly as you "platform" .... this is what all the POS falling apart 200,000 mile f-body guys have been telling you the past 10 years. We've got overhead...... and it counts for something right?

also WTF does your car need for a 2 inch drop... really? a bib? a diaper? .... its springs, if you need supporing mods for springs toss it in the trash can.

let me take a pic of my 4x4 and you'll know why I need a 2" (in the front).

and the supporting mods for springs would be camber plates, probably new bump stops, probably some other crap that I can't think of because I'm hungover...probably shocks that are worth a damn...

I see what you're saying, and I guess that's kind of what I was saying. I knew the problem before I even started but I started anyway (4cyl: check, FWD: check). I'm a grass is greener guy. My solution for this platform was going to be a CTS-V...because rwd/v8. but the large amount of rear-end issues is still keeping me away from them (the first gens).

so corey, when are you going to get rid of your car for something else or are you simply in too deep at this point to ever want to get rid of it?

well you knew going in so just leave it alone, 4x4 mode will come in handy since you live in the tundra.

get an evo... you wont have to worry about any of that. 500whp is easy out of one. You'll have a hard time finding an easier or cheaper platform to do it on, v8 or 4 cyl.

Plus if you want handling, sway bars are the best bang for your buck.

Maybe some coilovers instead of springs, and shocks?

I've got a rear sway already. It made a pretty good improvement for something so simple. Turn in is certainly improved. I was thinking about coilovers before I got springs but, at the time, I just didn't want to spend 1k+ for susp. goodies. My shocks were blown in the rear and I needed something ASAP; so I just bought some ultra cheap ones (actually, the ones for the mazda5 mini-minivan thing). 140 to my door for all 4 corners lol.

as nice as evo's are, they just don't do much for me.

Don't forget tires also, which are one of the most important things. I also figured they would have cheaper coilovers than $1k per set. Most imports, you can get a quality set for $500 or so. Still nowhere near $140 though.

As far as 4 cyl though, the mazdas are some of the least mod-friendly 4 cylinders. You could go subaru, mitsu, srt-4, hondas, etc and get a ton of bang for the buck.

Although hondas may be cheap to make fast, it takes a a lot more science then the rest, you have to go further than just bolt-ons.

I definitely need some new tires. I have had these for a year (Hankook Ventus V12) and they are getting pretty low on tread. They were pretty good for a cheaper tire but I am spinning them without mercy as of late. I'll never own a honduh.

My effing phone is being a POS and not sending pictures, but I'll get the pictures of the wheel gap eventually.

yea i see what you mean...... it isn't really THAT bad but yea.

You do live where it snows so it might be best to just leave it alone, you don't wanna turn into a snow plow after nov.

I remember plowing the snow from the roads in my camaro back in highschool. boy did that mess some things up.

I'm not worried about that though, wifey drives a jeep (liberty) and that thing is a beast in the snow. the ms3 gets garage duty when the snow hits.

The wheel gap isn't that bad... It would look good a couple inches lower though.

I scare passengers
I was way too far into this car probably a few years ago. Unless someone offers me about $15k for it, it's never going anywhere. Surprised you need all that voodoo to lower the car, I only needed some good shocks with springs. Granted I only dropped 1.25".

You should have jumped on the Koni sale, its over now!

Glad to see you made it here.

Little ol' me just has a mazdaspeed3. some bolt ons and a tune put me at 307/358 at the wheels...the front...wheels lol

However, I am starting to seriously contemplate a gen1 cts-v or a pontiac g8 gt and throw a maggie on it...
