Whats up guys! Long time to talk! Just figured it was time to get back in front of a computer and see what is going on with everyone. Things have been real busy lately. The last time I remember posting here I was at my old job at the lumber company. Much has changed!!!! Here is the clif notes version :rock

First things I have started working for my self. I havent been infront of a computer for any real set time and have been really busy trying to get this thing off the ground. Still living in Fl but do some travel time any where between South Carolina to Miami Fl.

Have been racking up the miles on the truck (over 265k now!!!) but its back in the shop for the trans AGAIN!!!! :rage Blew it up good this time! Punched it at 20mph downshifted into first went to grab second and BOOOOOOOOM went the rear planetary. Truck bounced off the rev limiter a few times and lost all forward gears......reverse worked but no going forward. :over :100

And....thats about it. Just busy and usually come home exhausted after projects or driving for hours.

So whats new guys!!! Im fliping thru some threads.....looks like I have missed some great projects and posts!

No it was the transmission. The rear planetary in the transmission. turned it to dust!

Yeah when sp00ke said your trans shit the bed again I just shook my head. I told him I know a person locally down by me, their performabuilt trans in their T/A is toast in less than one thousand miles.

Due to time and money right now Performabuilt is going to warranty the Trans. I want to put the 4l80e in it but I'm limited with time. I'm going to start looking for parts and mods for the 80e conversion. Going to beef the driveshaft up too. May convert the 2500hd aluminum ds to fit my truck. LOL..... Break now bitch!!!!

Yea im thinking its more the performa prob then the 4L60 part, so lets cross our fingers and hope the dood building your trans has all his marbles that day.

From you, and what corey has been seeing on tech I'm kinda thinking performashit just can't build a trans.

I'm in the same boat. Turns out the first TWO transmissions from them were faulty due to bad craftsmanship.........
#1 failure... Bad tq converter with 18,000 miles
#2 failure... Crack in input drum with 1,500 miles
#3 failure... IMO the first legit failure. Found the weakest part in the Trans and broke it. Like I have preached before. The 4l60e was never mention for a 5200lb vehicle with any mods.

When I get this thing back it's going to EFI Alchemy for some serious Trans tuning. I want it to cut fuel when it commands the shift. And throwing some tq management to it. I have a trailer that I'm now towing for the buisness. I just need this thing to hold up until I can do the 4l80e swap.

It's crazy though, there are guys in the 9 second thread on tech running a performabuilt, they must have went downhill quick! There are a lot of horror stories lately though, what is up with supposed performance automatic transmission shops? Somehow Monster Transmission is still in business down here by me, also has horror stories all across the boards I am on.

The T/A guy locally I think was only making around 400rwhp also, so probably the same boat as you, oh this thing will handle 500+! I honestly don't remember what they told you it would handle, but I seem to remember it being a good 150-200 higher at least than what you are making?

It was built and sold as able to hold 750 hp. Some people have luck but most don't. The 4l60e is not a performance Trans. Just not enough room to put beefy parts in it. That's why people go with a 4l80e swap in trucks AND cars. It's just easier to fit the bigger Trans in a truck than having to get a BFH to make one fit in a car.

Hey sc00by that guy in your town with the PRC heads has them back up for sale, looks like he is getting really desperate to get rid of them, $900. I don't know if things are good financial wise, but figure I'd give you a heads up.

I know I'm pretty broke these days. :ha

I would LOVE to have them!! The prc 2.5 are the ones I have wanted for a long time! Too bad money isn't right at the time. Maybe he won't sell them and I can pick them up in a few months when money gets better! Thanks for the heads up!

I kinda hate when parts have a HP rating only. It's good for a general idea, but it's the weight of the car and the TQ that seems to break the most shit. Somebody smarter than myself should devise a formula that incorporates the HP, TQ and Weight of the car to come up with a "Durability Rating." 500HP on a 3,000lbs car with 350 tq is going to feel a lot different on a trans than a 500hp 5300lbs car with 490tq.

yea but im pretty sure these dood build transmissions for trucks..... and they know exactly what kinda truck he has.


but yea.... durability rating. But people prob wouldn't buy it if it had such a common sense number, you know how most car guys are.. kinda meat head dumbasses.
