Word has reached Roma that legions under the command of Legati Marcus Aemilius and Titus Furius landed at Thessolonica in Macedonia to quell any problems which had arisen a little over a year and a half ago. Upon arrival they learned that most of the officials had sides with Spurius Hirtius Macedonicus Minor and his allies in support of the rebellion against Roma. Acting quickly the Republican legions destroyed two Hirtian legions and captured their eagles while preventing a third from ever fully forming. Following this, they set about capturing the tax revenue which had dried up and to re-establish order throughout the province. Though a couple of the rebel commanders escaped it is believed a legatus under Decimus Flavius Titianus was killed in the short but bitter engagement near the provincial capital. |
