As many were still scrambling to get out of Roma the vanguard force of the Hirtian Army approached the city. Carrying the standards of Legio IIII Pontica and VI Pontica, two legions originally raised around the city 15 years ago it has been a long homecoming. Decimus Flavius Titianus Carnfiex and Spurius Hirtius Macedonicus Minor were both at the head of the two legions as they came into the city unopposed. Many fearing what would happen if they kept the gates shut as there was no men to defend the walls.

With additional legions in tow behind them, the two 'liberatores' as they are calling themselves have set to go straight to the curia and attempt to form a quorum amongst the Senate with those still left. Initial reports are believed to be that they intend to hold elections.

An eerie calm is felt throughout the city as many are huddled in doors afraid of their new masters, knowing only the stories of brutality, and the presence of legionnaires in the streets for martial law is doing little to put their fears to rest.

Many wonder if the legions in Illyria will turn around and come back to their aid, or perhaps those in command care only to line their own pockets and leave Roma to her own defenses.
