Word has reached Consul Sextus Antonius Syricus in Iunonia of the 'victory' of Proconsul Placus Furius' army in Illyricum. Though the battle took place in Novembris of last year it has taken months for information to reach Loyalist forcing due to the winter months closing off the Alps. The Loyalist Army successfully defeated the Hirtian army outside the walls of Salona but when victory seemed assured Agrippa Hirtius killed the proconsul for reasons only known to him, causing chaos and confusion amongst their ranks.

This allowed the Hirtians to retreat and turn a potential grand victory into a pyrrhic one as their losses were high for not gaining a complete victory.

Many can only speculate as to the reason Agrippa Hirtius had and while the proconsul was generally disliked by many in his army and outside it no one would have dared to do what Agrippa did especially at the battle's high tide. Many speculate how Agrippa was famously absent when the Illyrian army first lost a few years ago and could not help prevent the surprise assault that led to Consul Titus Licinius' death. Now he prevented a major victory from taking place against the Hirtian forces and so there is rumors he is a defector and traitor.

Regardless, he has been taken into custody by the other senior officers and will await the consules decisions.

It should be noted that in Roma the news of the defeat was taken poorly but the fact that Salona still stood and remained secure heartened them, leading them to attempt to bolster forces there while strengthening their own position in Italia.

Of note was the absence of the Celtic allies the Hirtians rebels have in Illyricum from the battle.
