The new curia has been hard at work drafting laws and setting about practices for the Republic, most of them centered around looking at many of the laws passed and created by the last Dictator Titus Iunius. Both Consules, Decimus Flavius Titianus Carnifex and Spurius Hirtius Macedonicus, are spearheading the effort as well as strengthening their physical position as well. Cities throughout Italia are sending in reports to Roma and offering their loyalty and fealty to the curia and the newly elected magistrates; yet many will claim this is lip service and care more to prevent troops from forcibly making them pay their taxes and show loyalty and is of no surprise. Critics will point out that a slobbering dog could be consul and the cities would claim 'loyalty', so it is nothing to be proud of or to worry about when the likes of Corvus, Syricus and Gallicus return. Yet others point to the enthusiastic support some cities have shown the new regime, notably cities amongst Samnium, the Sabines who still hold close ties to the Flavii and several cities in Apulia where they have not only sent their loyalty to Roma but have sent additional revenues and even recruits to ensure the protection of the new regime. No word has yet come back regarding the provincial magistrates and their governments and as of right now, the Hirtians control Italia and Illyricum only but are slowly expanding their influence. |
