Proposal: Statue for Valeria Corva Author: Gaius Licinius Sponsor: Gaius Licinius Background: During the final days of Macedonicus Minor's brutal days, it was Valeria Corva who struck the final blow to the tyrant. She sacrifed her life in doing so, a symbol of Roman honor and virtue. May her memory never fade, and serve as an example for others. Proposal: A large statue be erected in front of the Curia in the likeness of Valeria Corva, to serve as a reminder of our duty to defend and preserve the republic. Large Statue Cost: 75,000 denari |

Gaius Aemilius rose and spoke, "Senators, while I agree that this woman's memory deserves to be honored, are we really to suppose that she deserves a spot on the forum, with our sacred gods? I say that we move this statue to a more suitable area, perhaps close to the ancestral home of the Corva clan." |

Gaius rose, "Consul I understand where you are coming from, but this woman was truly a hero of the republic. She gave her life to end the tyrant's reign. Placing her statue on her ancestral ground will only promote her within her family. I believe that she should be used as a symbol and example for the rest of us to follow." |

"Consul, with due deference I believe we should put aside this Senatusconsultum. Sicilia, Sardinia et Corsica, Syria and now Thrace have risen in rebellion. The Kingdom of Taurica presents a looming threat... Perhaps our coin and efforts would be better served focusing on the many, many military threats that we currently face. We may have restored some semblance of normalcy in the city itself, perhaps even Italia... But much of the Republic is still very much in, what amounts to, continued civil war... I fear that it may be too early to celebrate victory."
