Galerius Antonius
Praetor Urbanus

Proposal:Quaestor assignments
Author: Galerius Antonius
Sponsor: Galerius Antonius

Background: With the recent civil war and provinces rebelling then rejoining the republic maintaining a steady tax revenue has been very difficult. As was the case in Macedonia when their local magistrates withheld critical tax revenue from the state. I went to great lengths to see the tax revenues was returned and continued. But I fear if left unchecked by Rome these areas may not be efficiently collecting or paying Rome her rightful due.

Proposal:

I Quaestor Tiberius Portius Fortis be sent to Greece to audit and ensure all tax revenue is collected and sent to Rome. He is to report any issues the tax collectors are having to the local magistrate and the senate.

II Quaestor Amulius Horatius Vesanus will be sent to Asia to audit and ensure all tax revenue is collected and sent to Rome. He is to report any issues the tax collectors are having to the local magistrate and the senate.

III Quaestor Sertor Antonius will be sent to Hispania Citerior Asia to audit and ensure all tax revenue is collected and sent to Rome. He is to report any issues the tax collectors are having to the local magistrate and the senate.

IV Quaestor Vospicus Horatius Vesanus Hispania Ulterior to audit and ensure all tax revenue is accurate and sent to Rome. He is to report any issues the tax collectors are having to the local magistrate and the senate.

V Praetor Marcus Aemillius while performing his duties within the province of Illyria is to appoint the appropriate staff for the purpose of auditing and reviewing the tax system. If he finds any evidence suggesting the abuse or dereliction of the tax collectors to meet their obligations he is charged to immediately report that to the senate where upon auctions will be held for the right to collect taxes in that region.

Proculus Hirtius
Tribune of Plebs

Proculus Hirtius stood, "I for one would like to be the first to applaud our Praefectus Urbanus. Indeed it will be the job of every man in this Curia to do what we can to fix the finances of our Republic so we may once again be the envy of the civilized world. For too long now internal strife has kept us from doing what needs done and this is a strong first step in that direction. Here here praetor!"

Marcus Livius
Praetor of Sicilia

I have the upmost respect for you Galerius and for the position of Praefectus Urbanus, but I believe Quaester Publius Curtius Parcus may have already left for Syria as a tribune.

"Well then gentlemen, once the above mentioned amendment is made, I would suggest this piece of legislation should be put up for a vote so we can obtain the results before the end of this term."
